If the problem is logical, there isn't much you can do but replace the control board. But if your fairly sure that the problem is mechanical, like you said, everything seems to be working and you know the solenoid does fire. So most likely something had to have changed the alignment of the paper sensor or another sensor similarly responsible for the initiating a copy.
Can you bend or move the paper sensor in any way to change the timing with which the solenoid fires? This would be a simple fix.

I've made progress with this problem. I wound up taking everything apart to get to the paper sensor, cleaned everything up and reassembled. Still had same problem so I went thru the timing section. The alignment hole on the cam pulley lined up ok but the notch on the p disc was 180 degrees. I loosen the belt tension and rotated the cam pulley until the notch was level with the top of the clutch sensor.
I loaded a new master and just made 150 copies with no problem except the vertical position is off about 1/2". I could adjust it somewhat with the center button but I know that's not the solution.
Any ideas how I can adjust the vertical position?
To recap:
The timing lever gap is 2.5mm
The main pulley alignment holes line up
The cam pulley alignment holes line up
The p-disc notch is in the correct location
The image on the master looks correct
Is that a programming change? I don't see that as an option in the initialized settings menu. Can you tell me how to change it?
