Question about Sony DSR-11 DV / Mini DV VCR

1 Answer

I have a Sony DSR-11 DV. I have had it for 4 years. I have had no problems with it until this evening. It turned on okay and powered up okay and I loaded a Sony PDVM-40N tape to begin digitising. The tape loaded fine. All of a sudden the deck appeared to 'short out'. Now, the deck remains on and I cannot turn it off via the on/off button on the front panel. I can only turn it off by disconnecting it from the electricity power supply. The DVCam tape is also stuck in the drive mechanism and cannot be ejected. The eject button is not working. When the deck is powered up it seems to be stuck in a kind of loop, where it powers up - the fan 'whirrs' - before it shorts - the fan stops - before it powers up again - the fan whirrs - before it shorts again. This 'loops' carries on until it is powered down by disconnecting the electricity supply. I repeat, I cannot turn the deck off via the on/off button on the front panel. Any ideas? Many thanks

The first step is to turn of from the electricity ,then to remove covers upper and down, and front mask. After that you will be shown under mehanic one board, who is covering mehanic. You must relase that board, but before yu relase that ,you must disconnect cable from right said. After relasing board you will see mehanic. Then you must take out all of mehanic with case of mehanic ( if  I remember corectly I think that there is 4 scruf ). You musr relase mehanic of all of flat cables, on the way that mehanic complete get out. On the right said you have motor which are working loading and unloading tape from the case of tape. You must disconnect cable from that motor, and with help of batery ( ex. 9 V ) you must unloading mehanic in position of begining. After that you have second motor which is on right said on `elevator` or chanel of tape ( where the tape are going in ), you must follow the wire and disconnect from board. After that you can with help of batery or dc power ,changing + or - , going in or out tape ( eject ). Put everything on place and try this solution. All this is possible, if you have knowledge in this area. This is not easy, but it is only solution to eject the tape. Complicated question have complicated answer, but I hope that this will help you. Greetings!

DSR 11 won't record DV tape to its end

You need to use longer tapes. The DER-11 is a DVCAM deck which when recording, uses a faster tape speed then mini DV. Think of your older VCR's. They had SP, two hours, and EP or SLP, which would be six hours. The SP speed would give a better picture. DVCAM is more like an SP recording except digital and a lot better. More information is laid down on the tape.

You'll have to jump up to the full size DVCAM tapes in order to record the full hour.

Sony DSR-11 Will Not Recognize Timecode

I think you may have misconfigured something because the problem is not in your DSR-11 try connecting it to a monitor and you will see the time stamp and picture as proof of what I am saying. The problem I think is that your Mac is not processing the time stamp correctly. Try this link first it helped me: Remember follow the instructions ezactly:
