Hi, Curious, does this unit have a drain hose connected to a garberator/food disposer ? If so, make sure the drain "knock out" has been removed from the garb/disposer. If that isn't the problem, make sure the neccessary "hi loop" has not been removed from the tub of the dishwasher. A lot of times during installation people remove the "hi loop" to gain an extra foot or two of drain line, but it's a no-no. You can also check for wires off at the drain pump. Hope that helps, let me know. Good luck. macmarkus :)

The dishwasher will not drain properly

Hi

Dishwasher not draining issue usually occurs due to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. Check the drain hose for any visible clogging, remove if present. If no visible lint is present then remove then turn off the dishwasher and remove the drain hose and check for any visible clogging. If still not visible then the drain filter or drain pump is clogged and you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump. Also, check for any food pieces stuck near the pump impeller.
Please note that dishwashers don't drain out the complete water such that heating element doesn't overheat.

Hope this helps... Please post back for any further assistance.

Wont drain water out, have replaced filter. machine beeps and wont empty out old water. Whirlpool dishwasher, model adg7440

New garbage disposal? It's happened many times in my career- customer installs a new disposal then the dishwasher won't drain so they buy a new dishwasher to find the disposal didn't have the knock out knocked out. Check the easy stuff first.

Why wont dishwasher drain?

The 'drain hose' must placed into the sink and be free of kinks and obstruction. There is a pump that is supposed to pump the water out through the drain hose into the sink. If that pump does not activate, no water will be pumped out. I suggest yo have a repair technician trouble shoot and fit it.

It wont drain

Hi,
Your dishwasher may have food or lime/calcium buildup trapped inside it that may prevent it from draining properly, it could have a kink in its hose, or it may need a new part.
Here is a bit of about how the dishwasher types actually work, to give you a better idea of what you're dealing with and how to go about finding a solution to the problem:
The first thing you must do is figure out what style of D/W you have and a little of how it works so you can have a better understanding of what to look for. There are two basic designs, the direct drive dishwasher and the forward-reversing dishwashers. Direct drive dishwashers do not have to stop to drain the water will forward-reversing dishwashers The first thing you must do is figure out what style of d/w you have and a little of how it works so you can have a better understanding of what to look for. Watervalve open?
If yes?
Has this unit an integrated waterstop with the hose interlocked with a flow detection device? Mine failed on that. Bought a new machine after 10 year of service the flow device was 300 dollars.

Did you have a dishwasher before? If so, you must have had a sink tail piece with a dishwasher drain coming off the side. For the connection, you may have to get an adapter to fit the end of the dishwasher drain hose to the sink tail piece. Take all pieces to hardware store if necessary to get an adapter which fits. After you connect the drain hose, make sure that the drain hose has a "high loop", meaning that the hose curls up at least 6 inches above the connection point before it goes down again. This is important to keep sink waste from getting back into the diswasher hose if the sink drain backs up.

Drain

Don't buy this brand anymore, and be sure all your friends know not to also. I have a GE, GSD4000J, it is less than 2 years old, I have used it maybe at most 6 times. Now it will not drain, washes with the same water, does a terrible job of washing. I own a remodeling service, I will never buy GE products for any of my jobs from this day forward. Have not been able to get any help from GE, they don't seem to stand behind their products at all, or care about their customers once you have bought their products.
