My cord to my adapter got bent. I bought a new

My cord to my adapter got bent. My computer was shutting down frequently in the middle of whatever I was doing. I bought a new cord and it does the same thing - loose and won't charge computer properly. Can the port be fixed or replaced or is that an expensive opption. Thanks

I have an acer aspire 3680. It is about 3 years old and out of warranty, so they didn't want to help me. I have discovered that the jack is damaged and not the adapter cord as previously thought. I didn't know if it would be very costly to replace the jack or if that was a possiblity . Thanks

What is the brand of the computer. When did you buy this computer? How old? Did you try to contact support regarding this problem?

Full breakdown and replacement of the power jack should be no more than $125 - you can find places on eBay for that.

My computer shut off out of nowhere with no warning.

They are a problem when they overheat. No warning just off. Try cleaning the fan and radiator. You will have a fighting chance then.

New battery HP g61 is fully charged but not working \

Maybe the AC Adapter Power Cord is not working. If you can't get on the laptop with the power cord then it is bad and the battery might be drained so you have no power source to power up the laptop.
If the laptop works only off the Power Cord and the batteryis not charging, then the battery is dead.

To check to make sure the Power Cord is working remove the battery and let thelatop run for 10 minutes or so.

To check to see if the battery has any charge left in it put the battery in andremove the power cord. If it won't boot or shuts down then the battery is deadand needs to be replaced if the power cord is ok.

My toshiba laptop only works with the battery, once i plug the adapter it turns off and power light blinks every seconds and will never turn on again.

If the computer works fine on the battery, but not on the power supply, I'd guess its a faulty power supply. they frequently get less love than the computer. They're banged around and stretched and bent in crazy ways, yanked from the walls. I'd grab a replacement at bestbuy and if that doesn't work just return the power cord.

hello

shut down computer - unplug power cord from laptop - remove the battery from laptop - plug Ac adapter into computer and Ac outlet (wall)
turn on computer
if computer does not turn on, replace the AC adapter and cord - then place battery back into computer
plug in new Ac adapter and cord - recharge battery - if orange light stays on after 4-6 hours of charging battery, you need new battery as well - replace battery, charge it up and it should be fine

if you have attempted these steps before and no change occurs, then you may have issue with power connection in computer - locate a service centre to replace power connection on computer

Dell C640 will not power up w/ac ad

  1. Verify that the AC adapter brick is receiving power.
Shut down the computer and unplug the adapter from the system first and then from the power socket. Wait 5 seconds.
  2. Plug the adapter directly into the wall socket, bypassing surge protectors, UPS units, or extension cords. The adapter LED should produce a steady green light.
  3. If you do not get a green light, try the adapter in another wall outlet in another room or verify that the first outlet works with a lamp or hairdryer.
  4. You can also isolate the power problem to a bad adapter by swapping it out with a second adapter - such as one for use with the port replicator.
  5. If the adapter LED lights, check the computer for bad connections.
  6. Examine the system power socket to be sure it does not have any bent, missing, or pushed-in pins.
  7. Plug the adapter connector directly into the computer, bypassing surge protectors, extension cords, etc. Be sure that the adapter connector fits tightly into the computer's power socket.
  8. If you have access to another computer like yours, try your adapter on it or its adapter on your computer.
  9. If your computer is still under warranty and the AC adapter does not respond to troubleshooting, please contact your computer manufacturer.
