Question about Vacuums

1 Answer

I have a BISSELL CLEANVIEW II, I turn the power switch to "on" and am able to clean carpet for 1/2 a minute until the power shuts off in the outlet the vacuum is plugged into! The same repeats itself! I wonder if the motor is damaged or just plain shorted out!

Troubleshooting

Hi Janet. Thank you for asking this question. Your vacuum wasn't designed with a brush on/off switch so having the brush continually spin is normal for your vacuum.

Bissell brushes only turn in upright position

The brushes always turn on this unit, therefore the belt is probably stretched out to the point that there is no tension. When the unit is reclined the brush is probably stopping on the carpet as the unit drops slightly to the surface it is on. I recommend replacing the belt. You can find it at this link: http://www.bissell.com/parts/?sc=part&productid=2421&partid=4680&cid=ccsocial

Bissel Cleanview II (bagless 12 amp)

Greetings from GoVacuum.com,

What it sounds like is that your belt has either broken, or has been stretched to a point where the brushes won't spin. What you'll need to do is turn the vacuum cleaner upside down and turn on the vacuum. Are your brushes spinning at all? If your brushes are spinning, when you put the machine on the carpet, does the brush stop spinning, or slow down noticeably?

If either one of these happen, you'll need to replace the belt. Most Bissell uprights will use Bissell Style 7,9, and 10 belt (3 styles, 1 belt). The best way for you to find out what belt your machine takes, is to refer to your owners manual. You may also email me your model number, and I'd be happy to ship you the correct belt.

The instructions on how to replace the belt are also diagrammed and explained at the above link.
There is also a troubleshooting page on page 14.

Please email me if you have any further questions, I'd be happy to answer any question you may come across.

Bissell Velocity Vacuum brushes stopped

The brush bearings wear out on these things. I know I replaced mine twice before buying new carpet. I've had it for 10 years,
You can order these parts on the Bissell website:
