Question about Whirlpool GH6177XPS Microwave Oven

Whirlpool GH6177XPS G2 Microwave

We are installed this unit in a Motorhome - It works on shore power but we get an error "NO MAINS" when it is run on a generator.

We checked the power out put on shore power 117 and matched it on the generator same effect. We even adjusted the generator power from 112 to 120 to check each voltage. Same thing. And then we tried a second microwave with the same result.

Can you tell me what this error is.

Thanks

Bob

Works fine on shore power. Get (no mains) when generator is running. Had the generator checked. The generator is putting out 115 volts and 59 to 61 cycles. I was told the generator was working perfectly. Could the inverter that controls the microwave be the problem? The inverter puts out a square sine wave. Does the generator have an inverter. The generator is a 12.5 onan. I am looking at another brand of microwave but am having trouble finding out if it will work on a square sine wave.

Your generator may be putting out a square wave instead of a true sinusoidal (sine) wave.

There is usually a circuit in the microwave which monitors the AC line for timing purposes, and a square wave may not be interpreted correctly.

I would consult the manual or contact the manufacturer or installer.

Hi drk2676,

This error code F7 means that you have a function key stuck on ERC. You can solve this issue by replacing control board (also called ERC or clock). My whirlpool Gr2 microven Model # GH6177-XPS does not heat. All display functions seem operable otherwise.

Sorry to read about your problem.
It seems your have a general failure in the power control or switch failure on the unit. if you unit has power, and things lite. it is more likely you have a control/switch problem,

I tried to help you. Please help me and Rate/Vote on my response, thanks and good luck

Microwave does not shut off when door is opened.

It may be a bad door switch or mount, or maybe a relay on the control board is sticking.

First, see our safety info here.

Then we have a helpful file on diagnosing and replacing door switches here.

If that's not the issue, we regularly repair control circuit boards for $39.95, or you can order a new one (part number 8205237) for $203.08 here.

F7 ERROR CODE ON GH6177XPS

This is a known problem with this unit, and whirlpool has put out a Service Flash out on this. The reason this is happening is Electrical circuit interruption between the L1 and Neutral in the microwave invert circuit. This has to be addressed by a Tech.

jm...I'm guessing you are not able to see the numbers in the timer portion but that it will accept keyboard commands. This sounds like the main board is going and the drivers are not working or it might just be that the display is bad...generally these are replaced as a unit.
