Question about Pioneer Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

Is an old Pioneer SA-510 stereo amp a good one for listening to classical music? What kind of speakers should I connect with it ? The problem is I don't know anything much about electronics and the sound I am getting is not good and I don't know if it is the very old speakers or the very old amp (The speakers are labeled Motown 3 way)

Where can I obtain a free Owners Manual for a Pioneer VSX 505S Stereo Amplifier?

The support section of the Pioneer website would seem like a good place to begin and failing that I am sure you will find a specialist forum.

What you are proposing to do I think, is to connect two speakers to each of the two remaining working outputs.

Connecting two speakers in parallel will tend to make the amplifier think it is one speaker of a reduced impedance into which it will attempt to deliver more power for a given volume setting. If you like your music loud you could soon overload the output stages.

Connect two speakers if you like but if you don't want to stress your amp you should set the volume control to half of your usual setting, when you could discover your disatisfaction with the arrangement or if the amp is a well-designed tough unit you might just get away with it.

Alternatively, you could take it to the repair shop and get it fixed.

No sound out of the pioneer vsx-1121-k

Hello,
Try removing all the speaker and the HDMI connections; then use a headphone to listen to music from the tuner or a CD in stereo mode. Better in direct mode. If you hear your music correctly the receiver could be working correctly. If no music is heard, you may need to have it repaired professionally.
If you can hear music, connect the main FL & FR speakers and verify you can hear music that way, without the headphone connected.
If you can hear music that way, connect the center and rears. Try a mode that uses all channels to verify all sound channels are working.
Then, and only then start adding your HDMI connections.
Good luck

Plays only mono when listening to music

I lot could depend on how the music source has been connected to the receiver. If you are using a stereo CD player then you may need to check if it is configured to send audio in stereo mode and not mono. The input source selection for the audio is given in page 26 of the manual.
You can go to the setting menu in Receiver and configure the speakers settings according to which ones you have installed.
Also refer page 25 in the manual to over ride speaker configuration if it is not showing correct.

I have an pioneer SA-510 amplifier and i want to know how to connect it to my laptop and what kind of aux i need ? plz help

Just go to Radio Shack and buy a 1/8 male stereo cable and the other end with 2 male RCA plugs and connect them to the AUX or CD input of your receiver, the 1/8 male connector goes to your earphones output of your laptop, hope it helps.

Pyramid music

There's a cable with one side for the earphones out of your laptop, which has to be 1/8 with 3 rings, one "L", next "R" and "Ground", on the other side you should have two RCA male connectors, one white which is the left side and one red which corresponds to the right side and this end goes to CD or AUX input of your receiver, this cable should be at Radio Shack Store, hope this helps.

Pioneer Sa-9900 vintage home stereo pops loudly after warm up through speakers, any ideas?

Usually indicates old/faulty transistors or capacitors, not uncommon with a unit of this age. A good repairman can restore these to working condition.

I have a Bose 901 Series VI speaker system & have recently purchased a Pioneer VSX-1020-K AV Receiver. How do I connect the 901's EQ to this amp. I believe the only option is the CDR/TAPE IN/OUT...

This receiver has no pre-amp outs to drive the required separate amp the 901's need for you to continue to have multichannel digital audio. The reason: activation of a tape loop disables digital inputs. But they DID give you Front Height. Oh boy.

I have a Pioneer SA 1050. All the lights come on

check your speaker selector switch to see if its on the correct setting ie; speakers one ( not speakers 2 ) also check your speaker cables by reversing them, ie; put right speaker cable into left channel and vice versa with the left etc? check also to see if your amp is set to headphone output by mistake in which case no sound will come out until you select the speakers instead? good luck.
