Question about Maytag Performa PAV2200

1 Answer

Water won't stop running

Cold water runs continuously through the wash cycle. Tried running several cycles and still continues to run. Seems like the switch to stop the cold water from running in is not working properly. When running a cold wash rinse I can hear the washer buzzing when running water in. When it stops with the cycle, the buzzing stops but the water keeps running.

Any ideas?

Re: water won't stop running

It might have a small stone or something similar in the water soleniod valve or it might just be sticking open somewhat. I'd go ahead and change the cold water soleniod valve because it's not closing itself and shutting off the water flow.

This sounds like your water fill valve is bad and will need to be replaced.

Cold water runs continuously at end of cycle

If yo9u were to unplug the machine at that point and the water continues to run in you have a bad water valve. If it stops when yoou unplug it, it may be the timer. Would have to test to see if voltage is present at the valve in the second scenario,. Water valve part# is WH13x10024 @ $51.00

Whirlpool AWO3761 stuck mid-cycle

The cycle doesn't advanceWhen the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem:

  • It's the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer.

  • It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water. See There's no cold water.
