Question about DCS RGT485GDSS Gas Kitchen Range

1 Answer

When we turned on the broiler to our DCS ''RGT485 GD'' range it must have delayed igniting and the force of the gas and flames flung the door open and flames came out. We have tried turning on again but the igniter works but no gas combines so it does not start.

When I turn on the broiler on my GE Eterna the flame actually comes up and out of the oven. I can smell th plastic from somewhere melting. So I don't dare use the broiler. And don't

This shouldn't be happening. You may have a delayed ignition causing this. the igniter may be going bad causing this delay. Or the igniter is too far away from the gas tube.

DCS gas oven and broiler that pulses

This sounds a lot like a defective pressure regulator. If you do not have one externally connected, then the internal regulator is faulty. If internal, it shouldn't be too difficult to DIY. Just make sure the pressure rating is the same as the one that has failed.

GE JGSP28 Range broiler problem: flame comes out when door opened

The air shutter should be completely open. A possible adjustment may be necessary towards the closed position. The orifice needle at the orifice hood may be too tight. Take a 1/2 inch open end wrench and turn the hood counterclockwise to reduce pressure on the needle. Do this with the air shutter completely open. Your flame should reduce in size. The best flame would be about 1 inch long with white tips.
Make the adjustments with the flame off. Then light it and check it. If more adjustment is necessary, turn the broiler off before adjusting.

DCS 4 burner plus griddle Range..oven doesn't heat

This happened to my DCS when the Hot Wire Relay went out. It isn't an expensive part, but finding someone that knows what needs to be replaced, and then can replace it is hard. My oven also did the opposite and continued to heat without shutting off, and it was once again the hot wire relay.

Gas leaks into oven when i turn on the broiler

You have what we called delay ignition. may be the broiler ignitor too far away from broiler, partially clogged broiler orifice or bad ignitor, I"ll check the Amperage on the ignitor, it should draw above 3 AMPs, if not, then I'll change the ignitor first then check the orifice. Have fun.

Help in Replacing broiler igniter DCS RG-486GD

Jeff,
You have to remove the back of the range; the wires plug into the gas valve that controls gas to the broiler.  They detach by pulling on the slip on connector.

BROILER WONT COME ON

If your BAKE function works, but the BROIL does not come on, more than likely you have a bad igniter on your broiler. The igniter is a glow bar type that comes in two basic shapes. One is round, and one is square. The round type igniter should draw between 2.7 to 3.2 amps of current to be considered good, while the square type igniter will draw 3.2 to 3.7 amps. The reason it is important to mention this is because, it is not uncommon for an igniter to still glow. and be bad. The igniter is designed to draw the required amount of current in order for the gas valve to open. Once the valve opens, you have ignition. This is a designed safety feature that prevents free-flowing gas from accumulating without ignition. An easy way to check is to remove the broil cover and turn the broiler on to see if you have any activity out of the igniter. If the igniter does not glow at all, a resistance reading can easily determine if the igniter is bad. It should read avery low resistance if good. If the igniter glows, but the gas valve never opens, take a current reading. If you can provide me with your EXACT model number (located somewhere around the oven door/lower drawer opening, or on the back of the range) I can track down a part number for. I hope this information is helpful to you.
