Should be a Kawasaki engine with a Mikuni carb, and there will be a removable jet in the center post of the carb.

John deere 455 keeps dieing

Clogged pilot jet inside the carb. You need to remove the jets and ream them so they are clear. If it starts and then dies as soon as you try to throttle up, then it is the pilot jet.

My John Deere 14sb walk behind mower will start, and then within three seconds, it will die.

Sounds like after the prime fuel is burnt up, it dies. This sounds like either a jet is clogged up or a diaphragm, depending on your carburetor, needs some attention. Look at what engine you have on the mower. You may be able to clean the jet, depending on your mechanical abilities, yourself.

John Deere 14SB mower with Kawasaki FC150V series - Throttle adj.

Hello rfbarrett:

From your Description it Sounds like the Plate that is Attached to the Carburetor (that the Throttle cable Attaches to) Thru Shaft (holds and Moves the Throttle Valve) has Loosened and is Simply Turning on the Thru Shaft and Not Moving the Thru Shaft and Throttle Valve at All.
>>You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Engine and Mower at this Site Addy, http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servlet/com.deere.u90490.partscatalog.view.servlets.HomePageServlet_Alt and Enter the Model Numbers 14SB and Click Find.
