Re: d-link/dwl-g650

Hi Ever!
Make sure you unit is plugged into a modem, i.e you have an internet connection. Make sure the modem Ethernet cable goes to the WAN port, and not the LAN. On your PC, got to start:run and type in CMD. In the black box that opens, type in IPCONFIG
Should list your Machine IP, subnet and Gateway IP. The IP should be in something like (The "X" can be any number up to 254.) If it is,, you are not getting a signal from your router to your machine. Try a different cable, Make sure you are using one of the LAN ports, and not the WAN.

Good Luck!

2 macs need to use the router

A wireless router should easily support up to 100 to 200 wireless devices. What error-message(s) do you get when you select the SSID that you chose for your router, and when you enter your network-password?

One laptop cann access the internet via the dlink wireless router, the other laptop can not even see the network.

On the "other" laptop, is the wireless adapter "enabled" or "disabled" ?
Look for either a button, or a slider, or a sequence of keys ("hold down FN and press F5") to enable the wireless adapter.

Then, click Start
Click Control Panel
Click System
Click Hardware
Click Device Manager
Click the '+' to the left of the 'Network Devices'
Do you see the wireless adapter listed?
Is there any RED or YELLOW tags on top of the device's icon?
If so, double-click the icon, and click "Reinstall Driver".

I can't connect to my DWL G730 AP's webinterface. I already resetted it, but when I try to connect to through my Webbrowser, nothing happens. I already tried everything, I just can't...

Check that you are connecting with the right Ethernet cable to the AP, and verify that your PC is set to "Automatic IP Address".

Then from Start -> Run Command -> CMD.EXE type the command, "ipconfig" and press ENTER. The system will report the true current IP address for the LAN interface (not the Wireless one!). This should be in the same network of 192.168.0.something.

If it is not, try manually setting the IP address (right click on the LAN icon in the bottom right tray bar area, choose Status -> Properties -> scroll down to TCP/IP Protocol -> click Properties -> enter "Use the following IP address":, netmask, gateway, no DNS (it won't work anyway). Approve all changes and try again connecting.

If it still doesn't work, try pinging it from the CMD.EXE window (type the command PING and press ENTER). If it says, "timeout" and zero packets received, there's something wrong in the G730 itself (unless it's the cable). If it does work, your Internet setup is screwed, maybe you have a proxy configured or the antivirus is interfering, and you need to fix that condition before retrying.

Dwl-520 PPPoE problem

Besides the DHCP/PPoE issue that cnavarro already said, I recommend you to check the interface metric, click on start, then on run, type cmd and click on ok
then in the black window type "netstat -r" that will tell you the metric of each interface according to each network destination, depending on what you see in there (like windows looking for a network trough another device) then just change the metric to 1 in your dwl520.
here is how to do it

Use with dwl-2100ap

What you need to do is configure the dwl-2100AP. You need to login into the repeater's configuration page and go to Home tab, click on wireless on the left. Select AP Repeater under Mode. A new screen will show up. Click on the scan button to see if your router's signal is being picked up in the box. Just select the signal if you see it in the box and put in your security info if you have one.

Enable WPA-PSK

Step 1 Log into the web-based configuration by opening up a web browser and typing in the IP address of the router ( Step 2 The default username is admin (all lower case) and the password is blank (nothing). Click OK. Step 3 Click on the Home tab and then click Wireless on the left hand side. Step 4 Select WPA-PSK using the radio buttons. Step 5 Enter a key (passphrase). The key is an alpha-numeric password between 8 and 63 characters long. The password can include symbols (!?*&_) and spaces. Make sure you enter this key exactly the same on all other wireless clients. Step 6 Click on the Apply button then click on the Continue button to save your settings. Note: If you are configuring your router from a wireless adapter, you will lose connectivity as soon as you click Apply. You must enable WPA-PSK on your adapter and enter the same exact passphrase as you entered on your router.
