The HD should only fit in one way; it will not be even close if upside down.

Cantdisplay pic from pc to tv

To use a Panasonic Toughbook CF52 model
on a TV, you require a TV with a VGA Port.
The VGA port is a 15-pin female connector,
usually BLUE in color and you will require
a MALE-MALE VGA Cable which is also
BLUE color on the two ends.

The Panasonic has to be shut-off and the
cable connected to both the Toughbook and
the TV. Turn the TV on first and set SOURCE
on the TV Remote to "PC".

Then turn on the Panasonic Toughbook CF52.
If everything is properly connected then it
should switch automatically to the external TV.

Good Luck!

Cf-29 no operating system

You will require the internal Panasonic Toughbook CF29 optical drive (DVD). The cost of such a drive (used) in should be $50 or less.

You will also require a Windows 7 DVD.

You may be able to download an ISO file and burn your own.

Try this Microsoft Website:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/software-download/windows7

You must use the 32-bit version, NOT the 64-bit version.

Please remember to set the DVD as the first boot device in the BIOS of the CF29.

That is it. Good Luck and Best Regards from:

Install xp

To install Windows XP on a Panasonic Toughbook CF52
you have two choices:

1) Use a standard Win'XP Pro SP3 boot CD and then
then download each driver from the Panasonic Website:

http://pc-dl.panasonic.co.jp/itn/drivers/d_menu_en.html

2) Purchase the recovery disk from Panasonic directly
from the following website:

http://business.panasonic.com/support-computerstablets-dvdrequests

Here is what they say:
Recovery DVDs are available by mail for select Toughbook® products. Windows® XP back up service is only available to customers who purchased Panasonic computers with XP downgrade rights. Windows XP Backup Image and Windows 7 Recovery DVDs restore a PC to its original factory image. The standard Panasonic factory image includes the Windows operating system and all drivers/applications originally installed by Panasonic.

That is it.
Good Luck!

I have a cf-29 and my screen changed to black with weird lines going top to bottom. i was thinking it might be the video card any help would be great.

With any model of Panasonic Toughbook, the proper diagnostics would be to plugin an external monitor when the Toughbook in powered off, then turn on the power on the external monitor first and then finally turn on the Toughbook. If the problem is the video card then no image will display on the external monitor.

If you get an image on the external monitor, then the problems is the internal LCD screen.

The external monitor connects on the back or rear side of the CF29 in the external monitor port or VGA connector. This connector is typically "blue" in connector and has 15 pins (3 rows of 5 pins).

Panasonic CF 52 Toughbook Windows XP install

If you choose to install Windows XP on the Panasonic CF52,
then please either order the original recovers DVD directly
from Panasonic, or if you wish to re-install from scratch yourself,
please use Windows XP SP3 (service pack 3) and NOT SP2.

You will find the drivers here:

Official Support Download Center of the Drivers Manuals and FAQs TOUGHBOOK...

You can even re-install with this XP SP3 CD:

xpsp3-am4myvti2hob3hzqvrjwo1hl-4-0_0.jpg Just make sure to use your Windows XP COA license located
on the back of the Panasonic Toughbook which looks like this below

Panasonic TOUGHBOOK CF-18 Took out HD to reload windows as it would not load but stuck at the safe / last known good config etc. Loaded XP onto HD via an ACER laptop and reinserted it into ToughBook -...

I think your actually having issues getting it to run on the toughbook because it uses different drivers for everything from the Acer computer. If you press F8 while booting up you can choose the option "Disable automatic restart (of system errors or something)". Then when the machine boots up you should get a blue screen giving you an error code like "IRQ_EQUAL_TO_OR_GREATER_X Error: 0x0000005f. You could try to see what the message is trying to tell you to resolve it but the error msg would likely point to the driver that its trying to load that's most likely different from the toughbook you have. I'd suggest getting an external cdrom/dvdrom and install windows from a disc onto the toughbooks hd while its in that toughbook machine.

I dropped my panasonic tough book C-484HHUEM when working on it

the hard drive is located under the keyboard in toughbooks

http://www.askmehelpdesk.com/computers-beginners/opening-toughbook-cf-47-a-25391.html
note its for CF47 but they are similar
As for not booting fully that could be a number of things, maybe you have tried these.......you have power so a reset might not help but still try it, remove battery and ac power hold power button down for 40 seconds. Try running also just on ac and then just on battery. Have you tried to run the machine in safe mode pressing F8 on boot. Even though it could be corrupt data or damaged HD worth trying the simple stuff.
hope helps a bit, get back to me if i can help at all
