PROBLEM: WON’T START AND START/RESUME KEY LED FLASHES 3 TIMES WHEN START/RESUME KEY IS PRESSED.

Control programmed to not start if it suspects door switch is stuck

■ Customer didn’t open door between cycles.
■ Door switch contacts are stuck closed.

1. Open and close door and then press Start/Resume key. Instruct customer.
2. Unplug dishwasher or disconnect power.
3. Check resistance across door switch in Power Up circuit. Confirm proper latch assembly operation.

Faulty control.
1. Unplug dishwasher or disconnect power.
2. Check/replace control.

PROBLEM: WON’T RUN AND LED FOR START/RESUME KEY IS

By design, if the door is opened or power is interrupted during a cycle,
the user must press the Start/Resume key to resume operation.
Instruct Customer; refer to Use & Care manual.

The door must be latched for the Start/Resume key to work.
NOTE: For models with all keys on top of the door, the Start/Resume key can be pressed with the door open but the door must be latched within 3 seconds.

Confirm door is closed properly before pressing Start/Resume key.

Instruct Customer; refer to Use & Care manual.
Door switch not making contact:
■ Faulty door latch assembly.
■ Faulty door switch.

1. Unplug dishwasher or disconnect power.
2. Measure resistance of door switch contacts while checking mechanical operation of latch assembly. Confirm switches not loose from assembly.

RESUME
Power from the house Is there power getting to the dishwasher? This can be difficult to test, because dishwashers are usually wired directly to an electrical circuit, rather than plugged into the wall. But at least check for a blown fuse or a tripped circuit breaker.
Door switch
The door switch is important because, if it's defective, the dishwasher won't work at all. To reach it, you need to remove the control panel cover, or sometimes the interior liner of the door. If it's defective, you need to completely replace it.
Wiring
Often the main wiring connection from the house, at the dishwasher, burns and breaks the connection. If that's the problem, the wires must be repaired/replaced as necessary. If that's not the problem, check the wiring to the door switch, the wiring between the door and the lower part of the dishwasher, and the wiring to the timer. Repair any broken, burned, brittle, or defective wiring, using the proper appliance-grade wire and connectors.
Timer or selector switch
Although it's uncommon, the timer or the selector switch may be defective. If so, you need to replace the defective part, because neither of these can be repaired.

Hope helped with this.

Thermal Fuse

If the dishwasher won't start the thermal fuse might have blown. The thermal fuse helps to prevent damage to the dishwasher by turning off power so that it doesn't overheat. Once blown, the thermal fuse will have to be replaced for the dishwasher to work. The thermal fuse is usually located in the control panel on the control board or mounted to the bottom of the tank behind the lower panel. The thermal fuse can be checked for continuity.

Kitchenaid kudi01ilwh2 won't start

By won't start do you mean that everything is set ok but when you press Start button then nothing happens.

In that case most likely the door is not sitting properly or the door latch or door switch is faulty causing the dishwasher to not start.

However, if nothing happens on the panel when you press buttons but power is there, then most likely the panel is faulty and can be replaced.

you can trace the parts in these diagrams.

Our Kitchenaid dishwaser will not start.

If all other buttons are working and you can make program settings, then the door switch is not making proper contact. The door has to be firmly closed so that the switch inside the latch tells the controller that it is safe to start the dishwasher when the Start button is pressed.

Try to turn the mains power to dishwasher off and back on and see if there is any difference.

If your dishwasher won't start the problem could be the door latch or door latch switches. The door latch assembly is used to hold the door closed during the cycle to prevent water from leaking and it also incorporates the door latch switches that supply power to the dishwasher controls. If the door cannot close properly to activate the door latch switches or if the switches are defective then the dishwasher controls will not receive power and the dishwasher will not start. Inspect the latch assembly including the switches.
The door latch assembly is typically located at the top of the door, behind the inner door panel. To gain access you will have to remove the screws that secure the inner door panel and then separate the inner and outer door. The door latch assembly will normally have two switches that are wired in series as a safety feature. Verify that the door catch will activate the switches by manually inserting the catch into the latch assembly. If both switches are being mechanically activated then you should next check the switches for continuity with a multi-meter. Remove power from the appliance before attempting this repair.

the door latch actually has usually 2 microswitches on it that connect to the timing device ie: timer or control board:: if the door is not latching properly then it will not power the control board and the blinking light is a failt code telling you that... it sounds like the door latch is broke and needs replaced... i would order a new latch very easy to replace. you remove the inner door panel of the dishwasher and then will see the door latch mechanism made of plastic of course isint everything these days.... replace it and reconnect the wires ...obviously i would suggest turning your breaker off to dishwasher prior to operating on it....a few good reputable sites to order parts from
