Lexmark x4720 ink cartridge installation

I just installed a new black cartridge. It snapped in fine, and, yes, I took the tape off. Now printer is giving me a message saying Black Cartridge is Missing. Any ideas? I have turned the printer off and on, still nothing. I have taken it out and reinstalled many times as well.

Stop buying lexMark products, They are not worth the plastic they are made from.

Unplug that S.O.B. it worked when it kept telling me repeatably to reinsert the ink cartridge even though I did several times.

Clean contacts on printer and cartridge sometimes tape leaves a little sticky stuff behind, also look for reset button on cartridge.

Newly installed n0016 black ink cartridge shows full level after installation but is not printing black in any test sheets on lexmarkx75

duhhh on my part. i had removed the triple colored plastic coating i normally do and proceeded with the addition of the new print cartridge. it didn't print black and i checked and rechecked and reinserted. then i wrote to you guys. i took both cartridges out and caught a glint on the bottom of the black ink. blind bat here.. there was a section of tape that i failed to see (with my glasses on yet). so that was the solution. tape removal. my prior cartridges each had the one tri colored strip. i failed to feel or see the additional section of tape. thank you fix ya- i really would have felt stupid having you guys spend time assisting me.

Put new ink cartridge and can't install

Replacing your cartridge:

Lexmark X1270

Does the printer attempt to print? Did you replace the black or colored ink? If it was the black ink will it print in color?
If it prints in color, check the black ink cartridge for tape residue on the gold contacts. The blue tape will sometimes leave the adhesive on the cartridge and not the tape. It cleans off easy with a soft cloth.
