I have a GE monogram gas 5 burner cooktop that is about 16 years old. I recently started smelling a burning odor when I use the cooktop (it smells like I'm burning a pot). Can anyone help me identify this problem? Thanks.
Does it do this on every burner? Light each burner, one at a time. Set it at med. heat. See if one has a larger flame than the others. If they are close, they are ok. You may need to clean the burners. You can remove them and clean around under them. Use a small wire brush to clean the orfice under the burner. This should fix your problem. Without being there, I can't think of anything else it could be and I work on these type units every week. If you need anymore information, respond back and I'll be glad to help in any way I can. Have a great day! Good luck.
