Whirlpool heating/air window/wall unit-ground wire cut off

The ground wire is yellow/green and still connected to the screw. But where it comes from has been cut off. I can't find my manual. Where does it come from?

Did you ever find out where the wire goes? We moved our AC and the wire came off and is also just connected to the ground screw. becka3p@gmail.com

Normally that is connected to the unit in the casing and also to the ground that is part of the plug that goes into the outlet.

Good Luck!

With a Kenmore 8000 BTU ac window unit there is a green wire that runs from underneath the control panel. Where does that go?

Most of the time a green wire is a ground and should be attached to the metal frame using a existing screw or a self tapping sheet metal screw. Thank you.

Unfortunately I have no access to any previous information you received from other experts, but I will tell you that without knowing which ceiling assembly/control box, thermostat etc., that you are using, the most I can do is tell you this.
Blue wire is for the compressor circuit.
Black wire is for high fan .
Yellow wire is not used, unless for heat pump circuit reversing valve.
Red wire is for low fan.
White is the common AC connection.
Green/yellow striped is for ground to chassis.

How to connect to my Air conditioner AZ28E15DABm1 GE a thermostat model TR400 HC-A SECO?

Hello,

carefully follow the below steps;

Turn off the circuit breaker that controls the air conditioning system. Turn the thermostat to the "On" position to make sure that all power is cut off and the air conditioner cannot accidentally operate.
Remove the cover of the existing thermostat and remove the colored wires from the terminals. Take out any screws that secure the thermostat to the wall, and remove the thermostat.

Mount the new thermostat on the wall. Feed the wires through the unit, with enough slack to allow you to make the new connections.

Connect the red wire to the thermostat terminal labeled "RH," "RC" or "R." The red wire carries the power from the transformer.
Connect the green wire to the thermostat terminal labeled "G." This controls the relay that controls the fan. Attach the yellow wire to the "Y" terminal of the thermostat. This powers the main control. Connect the white wire to the "W" terminal. This is the heating control wire.

Close the thermostat's cover and turn the breakers back on. Turn the new thermostat to the "On" position to test it and that would be all.

I hope the above helps. If it is not helpful, please let me know so that I may direct you further.....

Good luck.

Goodman gmp0753 wont turn on condenser. The thermostat yellow wire is not connected to the unit. Does this play a part in my problem and where does this wire connect inside the furnace.

Hi, yes this is your cooling wire. Connect it to the Y terminal on the circuit board if this unit has one, or to the yellow thermostat wire coming from the stat. You will either have a board with these marks on them, R for hot, Y for yellow and cooling, W for heat which is heat, and G for fan which is green. If no board, look for all of these wires as they have to be there and they may be connected by wire nuts. Just connect the yellow to yellow and the outdoor unit will run. Very easy for you. Please be kind when rating me for my help.

Hello. Now that you are upgrading to the four prong you should unhook the green wire with yellow strip coming from the dryer and instead attach the extra green ground cord on the 4 prong to the screw on the side of the dryer. Regards, Joe.

You need to open up the panel at your furnace(air handler) and find the terminal strip and see what your existing thermostat wires are connected to. Normally your red wire connects to the R terminal(24 volts), the yellow wire to the Y1 terminal(cooling), the white wire to the W1 terminal(heating), the green wire to the G terminal(indoor fan). You can use whatever color of wire you have existing, just make sure that the R,W1,Y1,and G wires at the furnace match the R,W1,Y1, and G terminal screws at the thermostat. Also make sure the power to the furnace(air handler) is turned off before you make any wiring connections at the thermostat or furnace. This is very important! If you don't and you short any wires to ground(especially the R wire) you will possibly ruin the system step down transformer or blow the low voltage fuse.

Trying to reconnect an old thermostat. The wires on the thermostat are yellow, white and there is a jumper wire between two points. There is a G which I presume is ground. The wires coming in are white,...

G (green) = fan
w (White) = heat
y (yellow) = a/c
r (red) = power

Connect white to w terminal and red to r terminal on t-stat since we know they are right, then touch one green to red r terminal if fan starts that is G or (green). If a/c Outside unit starts then that one goes to y terminal on t-stat.
