Question about Quicksilver Power Mac G4 (Quicksilver)
It is either a faulty motherboard, or a faulty power supply. If it was the fan , the motherboard will start with no fan for few seconds.
You can try disconnecting fan and starting motherboard. Turn it off after few seconds , or it will overheat.
If you allow overheating doing this test, you may damage something else.
The first thing to test is the connectors to motherboard, and parts installed on motherboard. Check fan connector, and ensure that the 4 pins PSU additional connector is well plugged.
The motherboard is started with a minimal set of devices, only CPU and FAN, one memory module, PSU and video out.
No keyboard and mouse or USB devices, and no drives.
The power supply can be tested reading voltages.
At the workshop power supply is tested simply replacing it with a good one.
If PSU is good then you replace the motherboard.
Always keep power cord disconnected when you work on the hardware.
All repairs must be done by trained personal.
