It is either a faulty motherboard, or a faulty power supply. If it was the fan , the motherboard will start with no fan for few seconds.
You can try disconnecting fan and starting motherboard. Turn it off after few seconds , or it will overheat.
If you allow overheating doing this test, you may damage something else.

The first thing to test is the connectors to motherboard, and parts installed on motherboard. Check fan connector, and ensure that the 4 pins PSU additional connector is well plugged.

The motherboard is started with a minimal set of devices, only CPU and FAN, one memory module, PSU and video out.
No keyboard and mouse or USB devices, and no drives.

The power supply can be tested reading voltages.

At the workshop power supply is tested simply replacing it with a good one.

If PSU is good then you replace the motherboard.

Always keep power cord disconnected when you work on the hardware.

All repairs must be done by trained personal.

Regards.

MY LAPTOP AFTER 2-3HR WORK SHUTS DOWN AND WONT TURN OFF.i HAVETO PRESS THE START BUTTON TO REBOOT-PRODUCT ACER F5

Just wanted to confirm a few things..
Did you do a hard power down by holding the power button down for 5 seconds or by just briefly pressing the power button (which would put the computer to Sleep).
I've found this laptop occasionally does not properly recover from Sleeping under Win8, that's why I ask.
Either way, do a hard power down by holding the power button for 5 seconds.
Unplug the laptop and find the battery disconnect pinhole switch underneath (indicated with a picture of a battery lifted up) and using a paperclip press and hold for 30 seconds.
Try powering on again, do you atleast get the Acer logo appearing when powering on?

Reset button on a powerbook g4

The Powerbook G4 power button functions like a reset button if you hold the power button in for a few seconds until the computer powers down.
  1. Hold the power button in for a few seconds (until you see the screen turn off/go black and hear the fans & hard drive stop spinning).
  2. Press the power button again to turn your computer on.
  3. If you have more trouble, you may need to boot in Safe Mode or "perform a Safe Boot":
Press and hold down the "Shift" key immediately after you hear the start-up tone. Release the "Shift" key when the gray Apple icon appears on the screen.

Power button wont turn

Soft reset by removing the battery, wait 20 seconds and reinsert.

If this does not solve the problem...
1. Remove the battery, wait for a few seconds, then reinsert the battery to turn off your Merge.
2. Press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button, and then briefly press the POWER button.
3. Wait for the screen with the three Android images to appear, and then release the VOLUME DOWN button.
4. Press VOLUME DOWN to select FACTORY RESET, and then press the POWER button.

If none of this works, get a new phone, hopefully you have the insurance.

Ipod disabled

Like all electronic devices, iPods sometimes freeze and become unresponsive.
Sometimes iPods lock up when they're dropped on the ground or come in contact with water, but less destructive accidents may also cause them to stop working.
All versions of the iPod have a way to reset their hardware should they stop playing music or refuse to turn off.

Check the "Hold" switch on the top case of your iPod to be sure it isn't activated.
An iPod will appear frozen and unresponsive if this feature is activated.
A lock symbol will appear on your iPod's screen if it is in Hold mode.
Switch the "Hold" button on and off once. Place one finger on the "Menu" button and another on the center button.

Press both buttons at the same time and hold them for up to 8 seconds.
Release the "Menu" and center buttons once the Apple logo appears on your iPod's screen.
Try releasing the buttons and pressing and holding them a second time if the logo does not appear, as it can sometimes take several tries to reset a severely frozen iPod.
Press and hold the top button and the center "Home" button on a frozen and unresponsive iPod touch to reset it.
Hold the buttons for at least 10 seconds and wait for the Apple logo to appear on the screen, then release the buttons.
Connect your iPod to its powerblock or a computer if it is still frozen.
Wait 5 minutes and then try to reset it.
Sometimes an iPod can appear frozen when its battery runs out and just needs a few minutes of power to start working again.

On an applemac superdrive desktop when start button is pressed the fan turns breifly they stops. its appears that the computor is about to start but quits after a few seconds

just go to computer recovery by pressing F10 or F11 key i am not sure which one because every computer has different key but once you get there just recover your computer settings this will take everything to default settings and will probably solve your problem for the most part as soon you hit that power button keep pressing one of the F10 or F11 key and follow the instruction given.

Notebook appears to start booting for about 3 seconds

See if you can get into safe mode by pressing F8 once you turn the laptop on. It will take you to a boot menu if it works properly, choose safe mode.
If you can get into safe mode then choose system restore and choose the last date the laptop was working properly. The let it restore your computer back to that date, it will need to reboot and it will go back into windows normally as long as restore went thru.

If you can't get into safe mode then you'll need to wipe out your drive and restore your computer back to factory defaults.

If you can't do that then you might have a bad hard drive and that would need to be replaced.
