Re: xmb menu

When you switch the ps3 on if you hold down the power button for more than 4 seconds it runs the display setup. and sets the ps3 to run in the best possible option

When I'm told the system was not turned off correctly press ok then the screen stays blank

You corrupted your settings. Turn on the Ps3 let it power cycle, once you get to the blank screen hold down the power button until it beeps 3 times (about 25 secs) Your ps3 will shut off( note: if you have HDMI only, plug in your RCA connections as this will reset your ps3 display to analog) once you are back at xmb, plug in your HDMI and go to display settings and select HDMI. Always let your PS3 do its thing before shutting it down, its equivalent to unplugging your computer instead of logging off correctly.

Hi,i was on the main menu of black ops, when from nowhere this white screen was there for 30 min, thought it would go away then i swithed of the ps3,i switched it on again, but there was no...

The GPU overheated. Most likely fried, but you can try to let it sit for a few hours and see if it will boot again.
On an outside chance, you may try resetting the video options when you boot up the system. To do this, press the power button until it beeps once a second time. This will reset the video options and restore functionality if the problem is software related.

When i turn on my ps3 the screen loads but the xmb does not what can i do to fix this.

Are you using an HDMI cable? Or did you use that before but are now using a regular cable?

-Hold the power button until you hear the beeps; the video settings will have reset themselves.
-Plug in the regular cables (yellow, white, red)
-If you can see the image, then stop right here
-If you want to use an HDMI cable, then follow the above steps, but...
-Go to Settings-->Display Settings-->and change it to HDMI or whatever cord you are using
-Restart the PS3, using the cable you set it to use.

I had my ps3 hooked up through a HDMI plug and I swithed tv's, now I have no video with the HDMI plug or the red, white, and yellow. Please help!

Hi, The settings on the PS3 are sending the video signal throught the hdmi port. Either go through the XMB via sys settings, display settings,or if you only have a low def tv then hold the power for 5 seconds (when you turn it on i belive) and it resets it. You may have to adjust the audio settings at the same time, because if you pressed yes when the HDMI was first connected, you agreed to send the audio signal via hdmi as well.

My ps3 turns on but nothing appears on the screen what should i do? i have all the cords plugged in

Your question is lacking a little information, but I assume you are using a HDMI cable. First you need to turn the PS3 on by the switch on the PS3. Then press and hold the On/Off button on the PS3, keeping it pressed until you here a clear beep and then a couple of seconds after you should hear a second beep. Once you hear the second beep take your finger off the button. Now as long as you are on the correct HDMI channel the rest should be on the screen for you to complete.

Please Note - If you have it working on a particular TV, then decide to unplug the PS3 and put it on another TV, there is a very good chance it will be blank again. This is normal because each TV has different setting, pixels, size, etc, and the HDMI has to be set to each individual TV. Once you get use to the settings. It takes no more than 1 minute to do.

Cheers, and hopefully this will solve your problem.

Hdmi doesn't work

Make sure everything is pluged in correctly and the Playstation 3 is on stand-by. The using the power button on the console hold it for about 5 seconds till you hear two beeps. And this will reset the display settings.

Don't hold it to long or it will go on stand-by.

Also try reversing the ends of the HDMI

Hello can you help with this error!

When you switch from one cable connection to another (Hdmi to AV etc) you need to reset the PS3 to its default settings. Basically what is happening is, your PS3 is set to HDMI, so when you plug in AV cables it doesn't know it. So you have to reset it. Hook your PS3 up to whatever cables (make sure system is fully off) then hold the front power button down for a few seconds.

Doing this will reset the display settings. You can then go into the XMB (main menu) and choose your connection. Although the PS3 should do this during the start up on its own.

Hope this helps.
