Question about HP Compaq Presario V2000 Notebook

Blank screen, but desktop can be seen when a flashlight is pointed to it.

My compaq presario V2000 laptops screen is now blank. But, when you put a flashlight to it you can faintly see the desktop. I was told that if you clean the ram it should solve the inverter problem. Don't have a clue on how to do that so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

kprein

Can see faint images on the screen, but not bright enough to actually work with. My IT guy here is ready to by a new inverter and wonders if the backlight should be purchased also. Any new suggestions on this. This laptop is only about three years old.

    Thanks

Hi keprien,
Never heard of cleaning the ram fixing a LCD power invertor issue, but it it works!!!!
To remove the ram, on the bottom of your laptop, there is a panel, center and back by where the battery is. Remove the battery, remove the two screws, and you will see the ram. Press on the tabs on the sides of ram, to release them. When you put them back in, make real sure you get them seated fully into the slots.
To clean them, take a #2 pencil, using the eraser, gently run the gold contacts. Blow them off and reinstall.

Good Luck!

Clean the ram? no,no, you have a bad inverter board this is common on all LCD screens, the inverter feeds hi-voltage to the lamps that show the display.

it could also be the back light itself wich is fed by the inverter

contact these guys for parts

hope this helps

Need help with Compaq Presario v2000 drivers

Your DVD drive is missing the Burning Program not the driver. I found an update for your windvd software for windows 7 but you probably have to have the full program installed to run the update. Hope this helps.

Try uninstalling the RAM memory for a minute or two and start the machine with no memory, then reinstall the memory and start again, it should boot right up.
