Question about Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Standard Edition for PC

Exchange Direct Push Only Working when Outlook is open

We have Exchange 2003 in our environment with clients using Outlook 2003 or Outlook 2007 as we are in the process of transitioning. There is a mix of mobile devices amongst users, Blackberries, iPhones, and Android devices. We have a BES for the Blackberries. The iPhone and Android devices are being configured to sync with Exchange directly. When a user first enters their information into their phone it will sync up calendars and emails to a degree however after that initial sync, new items are only delivered when the user has their Outlook client open. On the users' AD accounts user initiaded synchronization is enabled as are up-to-date notifications and direct push. What else should we check? Blackberries are working fine through the BES but any device trying to use direct push only works with the Outlook client open.

Cannot send/recieve mail outlook express

If you have installed Microsoft Office Outlook 2007, it will set itself as your default mail client. Hit the Windows ball or Start button on the lower left of the desktop - All Programs - Outlook Express. When it opens; hit File - Export - To Outlook (Messages). Outlook Express will export all of your messages, contacts and account settings to Outlook 2007 and you will be able to use the better, upgraded Outlook Mail client.

I accidently deleted, in Outlook, my account

OST files may get corrupted, damaged or inaccessible due to various reasons such as Microsoft Exchange Server's downtime, software crash, accidental user account deletion, database corruption, virus attacks, and so on. The Lepide Exchange Manager's OST to PST Converter tool recovers lost and permanently deleted Emails by maintaining the Email formatting.

I am trying to upgrade our Department from Office 2003 to 2007

You can use Files and Settings Transfer Wizard or User State Migration Tool. Also, with that size of an environment you should consider hosting your own mail and use Exchange. Also, are you in a domain environment?

Oultook 2007 generate automatically OST instead of PST

An OST file is an Offline file, allowing you to use Outlook even when you can't contact an Exchange server. This will frequently occur when setting up Office 2007 using default settings.

If you are attempting to configure Outlook to manage a non-Exchange POP account follow the instructions here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/287532. (see Method 1).

I cant receive my emails

You can't receive emails? You need to give more information. Are you using a Web mail (i.e. Yahoo mail, Gmail) or are you using an e-mail client (i.e. Outlook 2003/2007; Outlook Express)?

Email clients uses two types of account, POP3 and IMAP.

If you are using an e-mail client like Outlook 2003, you need to change the incoming mail server. Please follow the steps below:

For Outlook 2003/2007:

1. Open your Outlook and then click on Tools.
2. Go to Accounts or Email Accounts.
3. Go to Mail tab and you will see the account that you have created (like pop.gmail.com or imap.gmail.com)
4. Double-click on pop or imap account and then go to Advanced tab.
5. You will see the Incoming Mail server.

By default, the incoming mail server is set to 110, you may change it to 995 and then select SSL. Then close and reopen your Outlook and click the Send/Receive button.

Now, if you're just using a Web e-mail like Gmail or Yahoo mail, you need to check your storage. There's a possibility that you reached the quota storage of your email that's why you are not receiving emails. You need to contact your email provider for this problem.

If you have a router on your network, you need to check the router settings and perform a Port Forwarding. You have to open the port 110 or 995 so that you could receive e-mails.

These are the things that you need to check and consider.

Have a great day!

MS Outlook pst files not found or are not working... cannot open outlook

This Outlook pst repair tool claims to be capable of recovering and repairing damaged or lost PST files such as Outlook emails, calendar, folders, tasks, notes, journals, contacts, attachments etc. Maybe you should take a try. The software extracts & restores those inaccessible Outlook items in a new .pst file and enables complete Outlook data recovery. Hope it helps.

Ms outlook 2003

Hello CMS34809,

If MS Outlook takes 10 to 15 minutes, of course you have a problem.

Try to ask your Network Administrator to reboot the Exchange Server, and then restart your PC (client), log in to your Domain, and try to open MS Outlook. If this doesn't solve the problem, then I think that it can be an IP or DNS conflict in your network. Tell your Network Administrator to troubleshoot that.

Hope this helps

Please tell us about your progress

Best regards
Eduardo

I believe you will have no problems. HotSync talks to the Outlook client rather than the server.
