Runs very hot and distorts plastics - Dishwashers

Its the same plastics we have used for the last two years that are now damaged due to excessive heat. It has definetley got hotter as the worksurface above it is noticably hotter than normal. Can anyone tell me what controls the temperture of the heater element. I always use the 50c setting which takes 2 hours, there is also a 30c setting that takes around half an hour and this still gets excessively hot. Thanks.

That usually happens if plastics are not specifically rated as dishwasher safe. Most dishwashers run at sixty to seventy degrees Celsius which is far hotter than any handwash and easily enough to soften any thermoformed plastics such as polythene, but there is usually a choice of cooler wash programs.

I can't give you any more specific advice as you have provided no information at all about the make and model of your dishwasher.

In that case, you have a problem primarily with the thermostat.

Many dishwashers use a number of thermistors which are fairly accurate and will use one for each programmable temperature setting. Others will use a simple thermocouple. Some thermistors from certain suppliers simply lose accuracy over time and thermocouples mostly work or cease functioning altogether. Models older than about twelve years old may still use a bimetallic switch (unreliable and inaccurate). Depending on the make and model of dishwasher it's also entirely possible that there has been a failure in the circuitry which monitors the thermal sensor readings. It's the combination of the monitoring circuit plus the sensor (thermistor/thermocouple) which combine to operate as a thermostat.

You still haven't stated which make and model you have so I cannot be any more specific, but in any case you need to get a dishwasher repair specialist to diagnose and fix your problem. If the dishwasher is over five years old it's probably not cost effective to do so and some spares may be impossible to get.

Meaco Dd8l dehumidifier fault light

My unit developed a fault just after the warranty expired. After less then a minute of turning it on the double fan light would flash, the fault light would come on and the unit would shut down.
After some research it would appear to be a common problem with this unit.

after stripping down the machine and inspecting it I noticed the dissident wheel was not turning. I removed the small electric motor, opened it up and re greased all the internal plastic cogs and re assembled, easy enough. Before re fitting motor I manually turned the dissident wheel and noticed it catching on something, preventing it from turning. On removal of the wheel I could clearly see the plastic case behind had melted and distorted. In the area directly behind the heater element. The dissident wheel has metal 'spokes' that literally brush past the plastic case behind.

i admit the unit has been turned off a couple of times before the unit has shut down properly and my guess is that the metal 'spokes' have stopped over the heater element and still hot element has heated through the spoke and melted the plastic behind, causing the distortion. Or this may be a design flaw, but was easily rectified by smoothing back down the plastic. On re assembly the unit worked like new.

I have a Eaton-Cuttler-Hammer 60 Amp fusible Pullout Disconnect for my house AC unit. When the weather gets warm and the AC runs alot, one, or both, of the fuses blows. The plastic panal inside the metal...

Hi,
Does not matter which way the fuses go....
The contacts are bad and will cause the fuses to blow sooner because they are heating up...
It will not cause a fire, but you should have the disconnect replaced or you will have continuous problems...

My compaq presario c 700 laptop keys sticks and runs hot, also runs very slow

sticking keys well! theres only one thing you can do about that is take the keyboard apart and wash the parts in a weak solution of detergent and clean the rest with a damp cloth--someone must have spilt a cup of coffee over it at some stage.
if it runs hot replace the fan, clean the aluminum heat sink of dust ,,hot aint such a big deal as long as the plastic isnt melting
Slow--try anotherOS

My hot rod deluxe has internal distortion problems.

There are many components in the system. Electrolytic capacitors are most suspect. C49, C50, C45, C51

There are many others but these are top suspects. You MAY be able to detect a change by cooling these components with circuit cooler spray.

ALSO check the +/- 16 volt power sources in the unit.

Dish washer gets to hot in pot scrubber mode

did it distort the spray arm? A lot of times if it's the spray arm that melted it's possible that it was jammed while trying to heat the water and the heat from the element would warp it.

There is no cold water only hot and the machine shuts itself off before filling with water

Not enough information, but I'm assuming you have 2 inlet water valves. 1 hot water and 2 cold water. Possibly you connected the hot water to the hot water valve. It must go to the cold water valve instead. Not good to run the washing machine like that as it will bring other problems into play. (colours running, plastic distorting etc.). That's if it is very hot water.

Runs really hot

There should have been some aluminum reflective insulation at the hot spots. If it is gone you will have to replace them to shield the plastic panel(s).
