Our steam nozzle is not frothing up the milk properly as it did when we first had it about a year ago. It says decalcify so is this the reason and if so what product should we use ?

HI
Scale deposits inside the boilers of your machine and needs to be dissolved by using a descaler to remove this scale. Scale lowers the performance of the boilers and thus lowers the performance of the steaming. If you have your manual there is a chapter on descaling. You also need to check you setting of your water hardness and make sure that it is set on 4, not because you water hardness is bad but you need to descale more often to keep the machine in good working order. A lot of people don't descale when they should and their boilers start to leak or plug up to the extent they have to be replaced in both cases.
You can get descaling powder for starbucks or a lot of your on-line espresso machine vendors. Don't use vinegar as it stays (tastes) in the machine for a couple of weeks.

Yes that could be the problem, there might be alot of minerals in the boiler and lines. Never use vinegar, you can use scalekleen which is citric acid or call your nearest gaggia dealer they might have another product that they recommend. I've always used the product above,

Delonghi perfecta milk not hot enough

Ummn - something in your Q. seems not right. The milk is not heated directly - its only heated by the steam as it passes by (and picks up) by the milk using a venturi effect - same as a spray bottle attached to a garden hose. You say you have froth - but you can only get that if you have steam... (it does not just blow air thru to create bubbles). So froth = steam & steam = heat... so milk must be hot.
Suggest you check manual for the 'heat' settings for your expresso as this may have been changed. While this is adjustable, the milk is not.

Also always heat your cups before using them - the silver cup 'holder' at the top does a reasonable job but boiling water does far better.
Cheers Mike

We have a Magimix M 200 Purchased at John Lewis Registration No: 278739 approx Dec 2008. We have not got the purchase receipt. The nozzle for frothing up the milk is not working at all so we are unable to...

There might be a blockage in the steam tube or the frothing nozzle itself. Make sure the nozzle is clean and try inserting a pipe cleaner gently into the steam tube to clear any blockage that may be preventing steam from passing through.

The steam wand is bubbling the milk, not frothing

THere is a little black tube inside - make sure its pushed out enough - about 1/16 an inch from the bottom. And you may have to clean it out. Happens to us too and after I do the above it works

Why won't my starbucks serina froth milk. Just stopped doing this all of a sudden. I descaled, the little hole in wand isn't blocked. The milk heats but no froth.

This problem developed on my Sirena machine about a week ago. Stopped frothing milk, but still produced lots of steam. In fact, it was splattering milk everywhere, just not producing foam. Cleaned the steam wand (including air intake) and descaled the machine (even though its only 3 months old) to no avail. Called Saeco customer support (1-800-933-7876) and the very helpful rep immediately identified the problem. Inside the Panarello steam wand is a removable plastic tube. The tip of this tube should protrude about 1/8" beyond the end of the steam wand. Mine was not. Using the eraser end of a pencil, I pushed the inner tube downward into position and, voila, I now have froth again.

Saeco Talea Giro no steam or water from spout

I have the same problem as well, talked to a repair shop and it's definitely a "send in" or warranty repair. I was told it's an o-ring issue. I have no water coming out of the steam wand and it goes into the dispense tray instead.

Can't get milk to foam

Place 1/3 part distilled white vinegar and 2/3 part water into the water reservoir. Turn the machine on and wait for the heat light to go off. Once the heat light goes off, turn the steam vs. water knob to the water drop icon, and turn the main function knob to steam/water. Make sure to have your frothing cup underneath the steam element ready to catch the water. The vinegar/water solution should clear out the calcium that clogs the steam element. Also, remove the cover to the steam element and dip it in a bowl with vinegar for about 5 minutes, and use something like a pipe cleaner to clean out that cover. Then apply vinegar and hot water to a rag and clean the calcium off the shaft of the steam element. Once you are all finished with this, run plain water through the espresso maker on the steam/water setting to clear out the bitter vinegar residue. Now, try again to make espresso and froth it.

Since milk contains calcium, the steam element has to be decalcified more often than a regular coffee maker. The EM-100 is a beautiful machine, but it is definitely high-maintenance - you will probably spend more time cleaning it than making cappuccino, etc.

Good luck!

The mahine does not froth the milk properly anymore

alisha165,

the saeco royal digital dosn't froth milk.... it produces steam, you are the one that froths the milk. is the machine still producing steam? if not you will need to have your steam boiler replaced. This should only be dune by a qualified repairer. If it is still producing steam but it is not as good as it use to be, descalling you machine may help.

Have you decalcify the machine, the boiler does not heat up if there is calcium in it.
