On board video card is not functioning

Firstly, the motherboard you are using may not have a video card in it, you did not specify whether this was a new build that has never started or if is a new problem on an old machine. If it is a problem that has suddenly come about, unless you installed a bad set of drivers it is probably a hardware failure. If this is a computer u've put together than the video card might not be motherboard based, it could rely on a compatible cpu to be installed, an Intel with HD graphics or an amd equivalent. Lastly if you have a dedicated video card installed, video out will default to that card.

I can't install AUTOCAD 2009 in my windows XP computer. It asks to install direct 3D

Most probably your hardware ie graphic card do not support software requirements.

Autocad 2009 system requirements for Win XP.
32-bit AutoCAD 2009
Running under Windows XP:
•Microsoft Windows XP SP2 operating system
•Intel® Pentium® 4 processor or AMD Athlon®, 2.2 GHz or greater
or
Intel or AMD Dual Core processor, 1.6 GHz or greater
•1 GB RAM
•750 MB free hard disk space for installation
•1024x768 VGA with true color
•Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 (SP1 or higher)
If you are using AutoCAD for 3D modeling, you should bump up your system as follows:
•Intel Pentium 4 processor or AMD Athlon, 3.0 GHz or greater
or
Intel or AMD Dual Core processor, 2.0 GHz or greater
•2 GB RAM or greater
•2 GB of additional free hard disk space
•1,280 x 1,024 32-bit color video display adapter (true color) 128 MB or greater, OpenGL or Direct3D capable workstation class graphics card.

Hope it helps.

Stops during setup.

Try going here:

http://support.amd.com/us/Pages/AMDSupportHub.aspx

Sometimes the card was made by ATI for another company, or is embedded in a motherboard. It also depends on which operating system you are using.

If you go here and still have a problem, write back.

Just upgraded VGA card to GeForce 9800GT. Now LG

Sounds like your Video card is not installed properly, you should take it out and then put it back securely into the motherboard. If its installed properly the monitor should come on during the start up screen at least to show the type of video card installed.

Also let me ask what model was your old Video card?

Problem of video controller(VGA Compatible)

This is common on laptops that use the integrated ATI/AMD combined system drivers. Try downloading the Processor drivers and utilities package from amd.com and see if that fixes the problems with the video card.

Hi,

Did you install the latest drivers from the AMD (they bought ATI) website?

You can find the latest drivers for Windows XP Home here. After you install the drivers there should be no problem changing your resolution. Regarding the other socket, you must've made it so you extend your desktop onto your "second screen" (ie. the one that connects to the second socket) so you don't see your desktop on that screen but just the extension of your desktop. If you move your mouse all the way to the right you should see it pop up there. You can change it in Display Properties -> Settings -> select screen #2 and deselect the extend desktop onto monitor option.
