Question about Dell Computers & Internet

I have a Dell inspiron 1420. I have run the F12 in the beginning and it states that the drive is functioning. However, whI put a disc in and go into my computer to start it the drive does not show up.

It showed Disc 0 and then had the C drive listed next to it and that was all. If it helps I got this error code after looking around Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19). I found this under the device manager. I have tried it uninstall and reinstall the device, but this does not work. When I click on find a solution, it searches, but no solution is found.

There could be several reasons for this.
Try downloading this file and unzip it then double click/run the unzipped file. After that reboot.
Hope this helps. If you need further assistance please let me know.
Thank you,
Lee

It sounds like the drive is not "initialized" in windows. Open control panel > administrative Tools > Computer Management > Look in the left hand pane of the next window and scroll down and select Disk Management. Your "active and Initialized " discs will show up in the top window, all other drives whether active or not will show in the bottom. Look in the bottom window and find the drive you installed. It may not even give it a drive letter yet but it will list is as disc 2, or disc 5, etc. Where it says disc *, right click in that little box and see if it gives you the option to "Initialize" disc. If it does, go ahead and choose to initialize the disc. If it gives you the choice to make the drive bootable, that is up to you to decide, if you are just using the disc as a backup or file storage, then it does not need to be bootable. Once the disc is initialized, it can be formatted and partitioned anyway you see fit. Get back to me if this doesn't apply to you and we'll look into it further.

Why wont my dell 1420 inspiron wont start due to windows msconfig32 corrupted

Hello,

yes, that's one of your start up files. Its missing or corrupt.
You need an operating system disc, or if your computer has it pre installed, run it by pressing f12 at startup.

Good luck.

A thin line across teh screen is an indicator that the LCD is bad. There's not anything short of replacing the screen that will resolve this issue.

I owned a Dell(inspiron 1420) touchpad is not functioning at all!

Try going into Control Panel, Mouse, Tapping and turn it all off.
Set the sensitivity to as low as you can.
The key combination should be Fn & F9, look for a button on the function row that has a finger pointing at a box :)
