Question about Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1: Windows
I recently updated from xp to vista and can't get my resolution any better than 8bit at 640 X 480 pixels. The original graphics controller was: Intel(R) 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics controller. This isn't compatible with Vista. Automatic updates, etc claim the driver is up to date and working properly despite the yellow hazard triangle hanging over the driver's title in the device manager listings and I'm unable to open windows movie maker where I get an error message stating the graphics card/driver is out of date or the like. Going through graphics properties I found the listing: Brookdale - G Graphics Chip Accelerated VGA BIOS.
Is it possible to get my graphics working properly by downloading the necessary driver or the like?
I've been trying the "driver detective" out and the driver the program keeps attempting to download freezes up continuously before completion. I also tried downloading all of the windows updates that were available (over half a gig), no problem downloading but didn't repair the resolution problems associated with the graphics driver.
Just force and install the driver, It should be working good. I too had similar problem. I just forced and installed the driver even though it said that its not compatible.
