I think the inside of the washer got water in it due to a pipe breaking behind it. I took off the back and let it dry for a couple of days but the dial continues to click around thru all of the cycles and the washer does not work. Please advise.
    Thank you.

I have the same machine and had the same problem. It turned out that the outflow trap which contains a plastic ball had filled up with junk out of pockets etc and also with strands of fabric from cloth nappies. If you remove the drain hose assembly(unplug the machine first!!) by unscrewing the jubilee clips on the hoses(this is inside the rear panel of the machine at the bottom) you can rmaove the outfloe trap take the ball out and empty out all the junk. Check that the hoses are clear as well and then check no junk remains where the part attaches to the bottom of the drum.
Put everything back together and run the machine for a full cycle with no clothes in it this should remove any left over bits of junk.
I have had to do this four or five times in the two years I have had this machine but it runs fine and washes perfectly until too much jnunk is in the trap, then it has the same symptoms you describe, wont finish the cycle, wont spin. On one occasion it poured water out of the powder tray, again same problem!!
If the machine has stopped full of water you will have to abort the programme unplug the machine, plug it back in then open the door catching the water in a large container then follow the procedure above. Water will drain from the hoses when you take them off have some towels handy!! Good Luck, Al from Manchester

Hotpoint fault?

Check the drain and circulation hoses for partial blockages as usually this causes such problems. Also make sure you using program with full speed spin cycle (solid spiral sign just before the dot pointing the end of chosen programme)

Hotpoint wma22 fills with water but won't wash or spin

Suspect motor brushes need replacing.
Simple task accessed by removing the top of the washer and releasing the clips holding the brushes into the motor - clip on back of brush - to remove the brush assembly.
Replace complete brush assembly.

Hotpoint WM51 Washing Machine keeps tripping the electric

Ok that rules out the heating element. There are a number of possible causes so bear with me while i go through them.
Can you open the door? If so leave it open then turn on the machine. Does it trip?

Washer door won't open (hotpoint first editon 800)

I have just had exactly the same problem. 10 seconds of washing, fuse blew, replaced it, cycle completed but now the door lock is stuck on. Like you I tried a new cycle but this has done nothing. In the end (and I'm not suggesting that this a remedy to the problem) I unplugged the machine - pulled the door handle til a gap appeared at the top of the door and forced it open by working a pair of scissors in to the gap and pulling. Of course as soon as I shut the door again and turned on the power the lock light came straight back on the and the door was locked tight. Sorry but this is the best I have come up with short of calling some one out.
