Question about Internet & Communication Software

1 Answer

No Connection My DWL-G120 has always worked fine. Suddenly it stopped allowing my pc to connect to the internet. I have Windows XP. The lights no longer come on, on my d-link. I have tried to use the d-link cd that came with it but it just let's me know it's already installed, and asks if I want to unistall. I also have a wireless Versatell Westlink, that didn't work with my pc originally, until I was told i need the D-link. My laptop connects wirelessly just fine.

Re: No Connection

Hi Norm,

First, try a different USB device in the USB Ports, to make sure they are not disabled.

Uninstall the DWL-G120 Drivers, in the add/remove programs. Unplug the device. Download and install this program.

Click on Options, check each one. Click on all instance of the USB device you want to remove, (Marked Disconnected.), and under File, click on Uninstall Selected devices You can hold the CTRL key to select more than one.
Once they are all cleared, Open My Computer and go to C drive. Delete any folders left over from the DWL-G120.
Reboot, and reinstall the drivers, and plug in the device.
If that don't work, you can try a different USB port for it.
Good Luck!

Internet Explorer is not conecting

You may have a modem or router problem, not problems in your computer. Try resetting your modem and router (if you have one). Turn off power, wait about a minute, then turn them back on. Sometimes that is all that is needed.

If you have a router connected to the modem, eliminate that by connecting your computer directly to the modem's network jack. If you can connect then, you know you need to replace the router.

Try another computer if you still can't connect when running directly to the modem. (You should be able to find someone with a laptop who can try for you.) Connection failure then can only mean the modem is bad. In many cases a bad modem will be replaced by your service provider.

It is also possible you managed to get a virus or worm into your computer at some point, and that has broken the networking function in Windows. You could try using System Restore to take the computer back to an earlier time when you were able to connect. If the trouble is due to malicious software, though, System Restore may not be available. Some bad software disables that so you can't use it.

I cannot get usb to work when i install xp on computer

Reinstall windows to solve this problem... Because if your USB's are not installed then you will not ever able to install any new usb hardware with your Pc!

also change the windows version i:e if you are using windows Xp home edition then try to install Windows Xp professional editon instead.

I am sure that this will solve your problem!
