Kenmore Elite Oasis Electric Dryer

I took out a load, and put in another, pressed start and nothing happened. No lights, no nothing!! The dryer, by the way was cool. Checked circuit breaker, 220 power and not a clue. There is 110 power because the drum light comes on. Had a repair man come and he worked for over an hour and could find nothing. Fuses all good, and wiring good also according to him. Maybe the computer panel?? HELP ME PLEASE!

Yes, I am also having the exact same problem. The drum light is on but the power button wont turn on the panel. After slamming the door shut a few times it worked for one load.

Port Orange Florida SEARS serviceman was unsuccessful in troubleshooting our 3 year old (lightly used, safely located in a new home, never moved from original location) dryer. He left without fixing the dryer. The problem is the dryer does not start when pushing start. The light is on and as we know that is on 1/2 or the 240 volt circuit. Without any doubt, the 240 volt service to the dryer is hot (both 120 volt sides and the overall 240 volt circuit. The problem is not the electrical service. Please advise us how to proceed (Sears is leaving us in limbo????). Contact me:

MS James Ruggiero (Susan) or James Ruggiers (Airline Pilot)

phone 303-725-5822 (this is cell phone with Denver area code. but we are in Port Orange) Don't try to email an answer; give as a live human call pls.

I have the same problem. I can take out a load and put in another press the power button and nothing happens. I have flipped the breaker even though it was not tripped and it will allow the dryer to come on. Sometimes it takes 2 or 3 tries with the breaker switch before it works. I have lived in two different houses and the same thing happens so I know it is the dryer. I also have the most annoying problem with the beeping sound that just continually happens. I hate this dryer and wish I had never spent the money for it. I would not recommend anyone to buy it..... Frustrated

First discovered that the dryer was turning on all by itself while we were gone. We fiddled with it and got an error message of F 4. All error mss say to call the service man. For a $70 call he thought it needed a new user interface which would cost all together $350. The dryer is two years old and in great shape except for the fact that it does not work. I paid nearly $1000 for it just over two years ago. If it worked, I might be able to get $100 for it, but knowing the product I could not live with myself if I unloaded it on some unsuspecting person. I can get a user interface for about $150 + shipping? The sears repair person said that if he fixed it for $350 it would carry a 90 day guarantee. Was it difficult to put in the interface?

    Thanks for any help.

I have the6705*,6706* or the 6707*, anyways the af light is activated. I completely cleaned out the lint filter, cleaned the electronic sensor had lint on the contacts, cleaned the lint from the vent from floor to roof, the af light still activated. I can run the dryer, but when the dryer is off, the af lights turns back on then will flash on or off if you hit the start button. The manual states something about letting it reset for the amount of time that is listed after you hit the start button. I have not seen any minutes the light and the beeping is not as frequent. What Do I Do?????

These are awesome solutions, L1 or the black hot wire supplies the lights and one leg of the heater while L2 the red power wire completes the circuit for the heater and powers the board. A great test is this, if the light is on and the load doesnt go, bad load. In this case trace the L2 line and find where the power stops, the first is the interface and the same goes for Frigidaire. I would also get the part number from Sears, tell them you will wait for money and then look for other local sources, it is worth the wait to save 80 dollars for a back order.

I fixed it by replacing the user interface. The part cost a ridiculous $190 w/ shipping and all from the sears catalog. The dryer itself was over priced and lasted long enough to exhaust the 1yr warranty. Kenmore products ****, I'll never buy that isht again.

Kenmore Elite Oasis Electric Dryer - no power (PF code)

Press and hold the "Start" button to restart the dryer cycle if the "PF" (power failure) error code appears. This code often appears when a cycle is interrupted before it completes. You may also check the breaker or household fuse, and ensure the machine has not come unplugged.

Kenmore Elite Oasis Dryer 6705 not start

I take the timed approach with appliance problems. If they occur 10 years after purchase, I buy a new one. If five years, I call a repair service and measure the cost of repair against the purchase of a replacement. If one year or less after purchase, I pile the expensive, offending, useless lump of an example of the decline of American workmanship into the back of my pickup and push it out on the doorstep of the store where I purchased it.

I find this method to be the most cost-effective and least troubling. And costs me about the same as calling the repair service.

In fact, right now I'm loading up my Kenmore Elite Oasis 6705, purchased March 13, 2007, (note that the problem began one month AFTER the warranty ran out) in the back of my pickup and I will make at quick stop at Sears to push it off the back of my truck (I find if I don't stop, but keep the truck rolling it makes for a much louder and attention grabbing drop off) then find the nearest hardware store so I can purchase some strong nylon line to string across my backyard so I can dry my clothes. I also purchase a bit of extra line so that I have enough to string up any Sears or Kenmore representatives who might stop by to inquire about the appliance they found on their doorstep.
