Question about Canon PIXMA MX310 All-In-One Printer

I have replaced both the color and black ink cartriges, however the printer is giving me the "color ink low" indication and a check ink u163 blk alarm. We have reset the cartriges to no avail.

Per the Canon.com troubleshooting guide found on THIS WEBSITE, it would be recommended to ensure that you have the proper cartridge for your printer. Also, double check that you have fully seated in the cartridges and that they align as they should. Lastly, it is important that you are using Genuine Canon ink cartridges to ensure longer printer life, not void any warranty you may have remaining on the printer, and most importantly to ensure proper communication with the actual cartridges.

I've canon MX340 and it says check ink u163 blk .... btw i checked the ink cartridge and they are all full and i cleaned the cartridges ...... so what should i do ?


Just Press and hold down the STOP/RESET and wait until the printer self restart. Release the button when printer successfully initialize.

Replaced cartriges with remanafacuter. Front


Try removing all 4 ink cartridges and unplug the power.

Close the ink cover, leave the ink cartridges out and then plug the power back in.

Once the printer boots up completely, reinstall the cartridges

U163 problem


More the likley, your printer's manufacturer does not allow for the use of refilled ink cartridges on their products.

Please purchase a factory new cartridge from the manufactuer of the printer.

Cant print in black and white when out of a color.


disregaurd any prior solutions in cleaning any contacts. that model doesnt have an electrical contact to clean. there are little magnets inside each color and black cartrige that work off a float mechanisim inside each one. when the levels get low the magnet indicates to the printer it is empty. unfortunately for you this stylis model as with all brother model printers wont work even if the color your setting up in the properties or settings feature are set to black and the black is full. its the companies way of forcing you into buying new ink. be aware though that my brother catriges cost 78.00 for the 3 color and one black set. i found these cartriges online through ebay but with one more additional black cartrige for a total of 5 not for ,for a total cost of 13.11 with free shipping. sounds too good to be true but for 13.00 it was worth a try. i have now purchased several 5 packs from them and couldnt be happiere.

RX500 EPSOM STYLUS PHOTO PRINTER Won't Print


I used some less expensive generic ink cartridges on my RX500 and had a similar experience with the black. If you're already using the Epson brand, done the head cleaning, realignment and nozzel checks, I'm not much help. Try Epson's support at their web site.
