This sounds either like your ISP is blocking you or it could be as simple as you need to forward your ports on Virtual Server in the router control panel. If this is the case find out the port that Limewire needs to access then put that port into the correct field in Virtual Server and fill in the blanks for your ip address and choose TCP and then click Apply Changes

Seems like since i purchased this router i have trouble with limewire

Have you enabled UPNP on your computer AND the router as that is one way to get limewire to work.

Also check which ports your program wants and open them up on your router

Firewall and limewire

Dear ckclee,
Just uninstall your new limewire and restart your computer. try to re-install the old version of your "work-fine-Limewire". If it doesn't work, the only way is go to start menu, browse the accessories, carefully choose "SYSTEM RESTORE". when it runnng.. pick the date which your computer work best, the restart it, remember... windows can only restore and set back time status not more than a week, according to my experience.
Good Luck

Loosing speed when i download

It is probably your ISP provider. They do bandwith throttling. A connection is allowed to download certin amount of data at high speed (e.g 12MB at the full speed) and then speed drops down significantly. This will allow very fast surfing as pages are less then limit, but downloading music and moview over the limit would be slowed down. Solution is to buy business type of internet access, which is more expensive.

Make sure P2P networking is enabled on your router.

Your router may be getting knocked off line continuously by limewire startup if it needs a firmware upgrade.

Limewire connection

you need to find your router address from your manual (eg. Then type this number in Internet Explorer address bar. If you did all ok at this point you should be opening browser control panel in Internet Explorer. Go to firewall page. Set Limewire software (you may need to use full path eg. C:\program files\limewire\) as an exception in ur firewall.

Open a port for a certain program

hi mike,

this router has its own firewall, although i don't think its a good idea to turn off the firewall

google the port that limewire uses and then use portforwarding on the router.

you can start by turning off the firewall on the router to see if it works. if it does then perrhaps just allow limewire to passthrough your firewall at the router.

good luck

Firewall ?? I cant get Limewire back....

Find the IP address of the modem, it should be on a label on the bottom of the modem or in the owners manual that came with the modem. Then open internet explorer, in the address window, type > http:// then enter the IP address next to the // then press the enter key, you will see the home page of the modem, logon to the modem at this screen and make the change to the firewall to allow Limewire.
