How to connect an iPhone to the Internet

Connecting your iPhone to the internet is an easy process. You just simply use any application on your iPhone which uses internet service.

Your iPhone can either use WiFi or Cellular for internet access.

- A WiFi network is simply a wireless network. You can find them at coffee shops, libraries or even at your house if you a router setup for wireless access.

- Cellular data networks allow Internet connectivity over the cellular network. Check your carrier's network coverage in your area for availability.

When you use an application on your iPhone that requires internet service it will either connect to the last WiFi network used, or if that network is not available it will list all available networks in range. You can simply tap on the network you wish to join and it will connect. If the network requires a password it will show a lock icon. If no Wifi networks are available your iPhone will connect over the cellular data network and fees may apply.

To see all the Wi-Fi networks in range, from the Home screen choose Settings > Wi-Fi. Tap a network to join it.

Can not connect to the internet at all my laptop picks it up and the sygnal is excellant but will not log on

I would recomand you to creat a new network profile.

Trouble shooting steps:
  1. Open Connect to a Network by clicking the Start button 4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33.png, and then clicking Connect to.

A list of networks currently available is displayed.

  2. Do one of the following:

    • If the network that you want to create a profile for is in the list, click it, and then click Connect.

If you save the network after successfully connecting to it, a profile for the network is stored on your computer. The next time you open Connect to a Network, the network will be in the list of available networks, if it is in range of your computer.

    • If the network that you want to create a profile for is not in the list and you think that it is in range of your computer, make sure that the wireless network adapter on your computer is enabled by doing the following:

      1. Open Network Connections by clicking the Start button 4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33.png, clicking Control Panel, clicking Network and Internet, clicking Network and Sharing Center, and then clicking Manage network connections.

      2. Right-click the network adapter, and then click Enable.

    • If the network that you want to create a profile for is not in the list, click Set up a connection or network, click Manually connect to a wireless network, click Next, and then follow the instructions. If you save the network, a profile for the network will be created and stored on your computer. To select specific authentication and security settings, click Change connection settings.

How to connect to a wireless network wi-fi?

There are two sides to the WIFI connection. Your computer's adapter and "client" and the location's router and SSID.

Senario 1: You are in a hotel. The computer pops up and says there are wireless networks available. You click on the pop up and it shows a list of sometimes funny name WIFI networks. Let's say you are in a BestWestern Hotel and the list shows bestwestern in the list. You click on the name bestwestern. At this point you will be asked or told on screen that you have to enter a Security key. You call down to the front desk and get the login information. Once entered, you are connected to that WIFI network. In most hotels, you need to then start an Internet Browser screen and agree to use their network.
Senario 2: You are at a friend's house. You turn on your computer and it pops up there are wireless networks available. All of the names are odd sounding and none of them are familiar. One of those networks shows a very strong signal. This network is probably your friends SSID. You can verify this with your friend. At the same time find out what the security key is for the network. Then click on the network name, enter the key and you will have connectivity to the Internet.

Some networks have access lists, where you can connect to the WIFI, but, if your computer is not listed in the router at the location, youstill have no access. This will require the owner of the network to add you PC information to the router to give you access.

Have bought home new computer identifies my network but when I quick to connect I get an windows is unable to connect to this network. The network may no longer be in range . Please refresh list of...

This is probably due to a setup issue, have you used a WEP/WAP key? If so then this is your problem. You need to set up the router via an Ethernet cable, and then set up the key, copy key to say a notepad doc, and save on USB key. Now on client, go START>>RUN>>services.msc (enter) now when services comes up scroll down to DHCP set to OFF and Disable, Now use the connect to internet wizard and enter the data and when asked for key copy paste to the box required, Now you should be able to connect to net. After you can connect, Do the same procedure for the WiFi, again remembering the Key.

Having trouble staying connected to the internet

Thank you.

First, make sure that the wireless switch on your computer is on.

Then try following these steps:

1) Go to Start and click on Connect to.
2) Connect to a network window will appear. This window will show all available connections, which are dial-up, VPN and wireless connections, but your focus is on wireless connections. Scroll down the list and select the wireless network that you wish to connect, finally click the Connect button.

Note: If the network you choose is security-enabled network, means require authentication. One of the following will occur:
- If the network key is automatically provided by your network or system administrator (that is, the network supports IEEE 802.1x), the connection will be made automatically.
- If the network key is not automatically provided, type in the key. The key can be WEP/WPA/WPA2 encryption key.

Note: If you see the network is tagged as unnamed network, that is non-broadcast network with hidden SSID. When you make connection to this type of network, you will be prompted to type the wireless network name (SSID).

3) Once you connected to wireless network, the connection will show connected.

Then, you can go online. :)
