Check the fan that moves air to the refrigerator side to see if it is working. You may have to listen closely as you open the door as some of then shut down when the door is opened. Also defrost you refrigerator for 24 hours. You may get water on the floor as it defrosts if it is really bad. Then restart the refrigerator and check that the fan is working and it is cooling.

Hello Jennifer - Often when the temperature is too cold, it is because the temperature control is set too cold/high or the damper door is not closing. Turn the control to a warmer setting and allow several hours for the temperature to stabilize. If the unit stabilized within 24 hours and the issue persists, then more than likely the control is not telling the damper when to close and/or the unit might possibly have a faulty thermistor or temperature control. I would personally contact a professional to accurately diagnose the unit to determine the root cause to reduce the risk of unnecessary parts.

Whirlpool refrigerator not keeping anything cold

Hello. We are sorry to learn that your refrigerator was not cooling. I would vacuum around the unit, using a hoseattachment, to remove any dust or lint that could be blocking the blower. Donot go under the unit, as you could hit a fan, and cause damage to other parts.I would also move any food items away from the vents in the unit to helprestore proper air flow. Using a $1bill, close it in the door and the frame, and see if the bill pulls out easily. If it does, then the seal is not closingproperly. Clean around the gasket usingmild soap and water, and see if that improves the seal. I hope this information is helpful. Sincerely, Melaine, Whirlpool Socail Media.

Freezer is not cold enough to make ice and all the contents are dethawing. Fridge is also not cold enough to keep things as cool as they should be

Seems like a defrost problem. Pull back panel and check frost pattern, if completely frosted,Turn the defrost timer (behind the kick panel in front, or mounted on the back panel) till the fridge goes into defrost. If defrost heater now gets red, replace the defrost timer, if not remove the defrost thermostat clipped to the evaporator coil, and check for continuity while still cold.

A/c not cold

Probably low on refrigerant, use a a/c tuneup additive from your parts store that has both refrigerant, and lubricant in it. If no improvement make sure that the passenger side electric fan mounted to the radiator is coming on when you have the a/c turned on for awhile. It keeps the condenser from overheating and allows your a/c to make cold air. With your a/c on also open hood and check for lines that have frost on them if you have to much refrigerant your lines may freeze keeping your a/c system from continually circulating it and making your a/c not as cold.

Why does freezer get cold but not refrigerator side?

Check the freezer temp (available in most grocery and home improvement stores). The temp should be between 0-10 degrees F (not just barely below freezing).

Refrigerator side is freezing contents

First, I think it’s important to know that the Ref side has no cooling coils, it’s basically a box and the cold air in the freezer is blown over by a fan through a channel into the Ref side. This channel has a door which regulates how much cold air goes through. You probably have two control knobs in the Ref side, one controls the temp with numbers 1-9, 9 being the coldest. This temp control tells the compressor how long to run. The other control is for that little door and it may have letters A-E, E being the coldest. If you set it on E (coldest) then this will close that little door and keep most the cold air in the freezer.

If your settings are right then the cold control switch is the problem

Refrigerator and freezer

Is the fan behind the back panel underneath
running (condenser fan) may be dead or clogged
with something if not thats the problem if it is
running take a vac attachment and clean
the dust or blow the dust from underneath
the refrigerator (after turning it off)dont bend
anything,After verifying the condenser fan runs
and cleaning the condenser try it out

If there is no improvement and,
If the system has not been opened before I
would say there is a leak in the system
(low charge) Requires the
attention of a service person
