Tiger Woods odd 3DFX mode Voodoo3 pro...

I am using a Voodoo3 video card and have tried the various patches that
allow 3DFX mode. However for me the patch allows the ability to select
the higher resolutions in 3DFX mode, but when I go to play I get an
error stating my computer doesnt support the settings and reverts back
to 800x600 (although now 3DFX mode atleast works)(Even D3D mode is now
only 800x600)

Does anyone have any idea why it wont allow me to go above 800x600?
My monitor supports 1280x1024.
