Question about Panasonic CT-36HX41 36" TV
Hello. I can assist you. First of all, unplug the TV and plug something else into that outlet, say a lamp, or a blow dryer. This way, we will know for sure if the problem is the TV or just the outlet. If the outlet has no power, check your house electrical panel and either replace the fuse with a new one of the same amperage, or turn the circuit breaker full on then full off and then full on again.
Let's assume that the power is ok. Now to the TV itself.
ONE: If you are using a power strip, check to make sure it has not tripped out. Mostly they have a reset button somewhere on the bar.
TWO: Also, check the line cord. Wiggle it near the molded ends - which is where the greatest of open circuits happen.
THREE: Unplug the tv for 30 minutes and try again. This will reset the power protection circuit.
FOUR: If all above does not get you anywhere, then the problem is likely an internal failure of one of the key sections of the tv. The power protection circuit is constantly monitoring the current drain and shuts the set down when too much current drain is detected. Culprits are the deflection circuits (including the high voltage generator call the flyback in the horizontal deflection amplifier), audio amplifier and main power supplies.
FIVE: If the problems turns out to be an internal failure of one of the sections above, then replacement of the set may be the better choice. Conventional 27" sets are available in the discount stores for $149 and up. Flat screen 27" are $277 and up. If you must replace the power transformer, for example, in your set the cost will be upwards of $200 to $250. The flyback would run about $100.
