Is the temperature in the freezer running correctly with the gauge not going back down to zero? or is it because its not cold enough. Suggest you give it a proper 12 hour defrost and restart again. 90%of the time it is due to an ice build up that will cause this problem. If ice build up is present, fan cant move the air in the chamber which will be evident by reading the gauge.

Want to know what a should set gauge on for my Whirlpool Upright freezer model ev200fxkq04- serial #ewm0608422 date 200202

The best method for determining the number to set your freezer to is to start in the middle. If your freezer dial goes from 1-10, set it at 5 and check the temperature inside. The ideal temperature for your freezer should be 0 degrees farenheit.

What does the temp display on the freezer tell me?

unless this is a dedicated freezer only and not a side by side or over/under , there's no way it's going to get down too 0 degrees inside a warm home , nope not gonna happen

also its not good for you to set this there as compressor wont cycle properly there and entire freezer will ice up , then believe it or not it will get warmer not colder wastes a lot of power as well

One thing you can do is make sure condenser coils have plenty of area around them (nothing lying against refrigerator) to prevent air flow. If possible vacuum and clean condenser coils and make sure freezer door is completely closed.

Freezer temperature came up to about 35 degrees. We took all food out. Temperature is holding around 32 to 35 degrees. This is on the colder setting that used to read around 0 degrees. What do I need to...

If there is frost on the back of the freezer then there is a defrost problem. If no Frost then i would advise you to take the back off the freezer and see if there is any frost on the coils. If no then the compressor is insuffecient and or no freon.

Freezer temperature v

This sounds like your motherboard, computer or control board(they call it different things in different models) is bad. It is responsible for the fan speed and timing of the defrost cycle. To locate your timer, motherboard, control or adaptive defrost control , enter your model number and search for the part or post back on Fixya.

GE PDS22SBRR bottom freezer not cooling. I adjusted the controls to cool and overnight it goes to 0 but if I open the freezer just once the temp jumps to 12 or 14 degrees. Please advise, thanks!

This sounds like a pretty normal condition. How long after you open the freezer does it take to recover (i.e. go back down to 0 degrees)?

The freezing temperature of water is +32 degrees Farenheit, so as long as your food is staying frozen, I wouldn't worry so much about it.

Is this a new (different) condition or are you just now noticing it?

Good luck. Hope this helps.
