Question about Compaq Presario CQ60-220US PC Laptop
I just had the same exact problem. Then a did a couple more searches and found a suggestion that I restart my laptop while connected to AC. And now it works just fine!

It sounds like the inverter or backlight has failed on your laptop. Try to connect an external monitor to the laptop to verify this. You should be able to toggle between the two displays by holding your function key down, then hitting the crt/LCD button. If the external monitor works good, then you have had a hardware failure.
