Check to see if you have gas pressure coming to the gas valve. If you have that and the gas valve is getting 24V then it should work. If not then the gas valve needs to be replaced. This is not uncommon for them to fail.

My gas dryer wont ignite. where do I start trouble shooting

Model number would help but I'll give some general info. Most Kenmore dryers are usually made by Whirlpool so I'll give info for that type dryer. The 1st thing to check on a no heat is if the glow bar ignitor is coming on. At the cycle start it should glow red hot or orange. If no glow the glowbar may be burned out and needs replaced. This is the most common problem in a gas dryer. If you see the orange glow for about 15 seconds and it goes out ---that is normal. That usually means you may have a bad magnetic coil on the top of the gas valve. There are actually 2 coils on the valve and if either one goes bad the valve will not open and let gas through to ignite. They need tested with a multimeter. Thats the 2 most common problems with gas dryers.

Kenmore gas dryer 80series model 110.c72852101

if you hear the valve clicking but no gas the valve is bad.when the burner lights theres a probe that senses that it is lit and sends a microvoltage back to the controller to tell its lit.check to make sure all ground wires are grounded to a clean metal surface.

There is no heat on any of the cycles.

Check Igniter, Igniter Sensor (Senses Igniter is glowing) & gas valve Coils. Remove Front or rear access panel to observe/access these items. Set heated dry cycle & start dryer while observing Igniter, should start to glow bright orange for several seconds, sensor should send millivolt power to valve coils that will CLICK opening valve producing blue flame for heat. If Igniter doesn't glow within a minute, its bad, If it glows & nothing else happens it's either Sensor or Coils are bad, check the coils by using Ohm meter across plug ends of coils, if bad you will get no reading on meter, coil is open & no good, or take both Sensor & Coils to repair shop and have them tested. All 3 are accessable thru access panel opening.

GAS HEAT NOT FIRING ON BLOWER WORKS , GLOW STARTS , BUT WILL NOT LIGHT FURNACE

Hi, I have seen this so many times. It could be a couple of things. In the sequence of operation, normally the small inducer fan will start to come on first, if your model has one. With the motor on, it closes a set of contacts telling the module, hey I am on and running. A safety device.Module sends power to the glow plug to light. If it glows but doesn't light, it may try a couple of times before it locks out the module, and you're indoor fan will come on and run.1 of 2 components will be at fault. Either the main gas valve coil is dead and not opening to fire the burners when the glow plug is established, or the ignition module is faulty not sending 24volts to the main gas valve to open. Try this, go to the unit and have someone set it to come on. When you see the glow plug start to get hot, listen very closely to the main gas valve to make a click. You can even put your finger on the small coil and feel it energize. If it does click, and you can fill it do so, this means it is getting the 24 volts to open and fire, but the coil is faulty and you must replace the valve. If you have a volt meter, you can put you're 2 leads on the 2 terminals, hot and common to see if you have 24 volts to it when the glow plug glows and its time for the valve to open.A click, feel, or 24volts,a/c tells that the module is good but valve is faulty. If no sound, click, or no feeling anything and you do have a volt meter and you have no 24 volts there at valve when its time to fire, the module is at fault and must be replaced. You can check for 24volts ac there also at the terminals marked mgv, and c or Grd.You should have 24volts there when glow plug is glowing before it goes out.I wanted to fully explain to you the steps you must take to find the solution, I know it might sound confusing, but it is rather simple when you know the sequence of operation of something. You can purchase the valve or module at an appliance parts house. Mark all wiring and draw a picture of the part you are replaceing. The gas valve is very easy to remove and install. It could be 1/2x 1/2 pipe or 1/2x 3/4, 3/4x3/4 ect.Turn off gas. remove flex line. Remove gas hand valve. Remove pipe nipple. Grab hold of main gas valve and turn CCW while holding nipple at other end. Remove wiring first and mark.Install in reverse using pipe dope. You can do this by hearing the click without a meter. It would be helpful if you could pick up a cheap model at like Sears tools.I do this just about everyday and I can promise you it is one of the two components. Please keep me informed and make a copy of this solution if you like for reference. It should not take you to long to know which is faulty. Best of Luck, and Sincerely,
Shastalaker7

Won't light

If you can see the ignitor coming on and the furnace will not fire, if you have a elect. meter, see if you have 24volts at the terminals on the gas valve right after the pilot lights or glow plug whichever. you should hear the gas valve click when pilot is on and have 24volts at the valve at that time. If you do, then the valve is bad.If you don't have 24 volts, then check the stat for 24 volts. A safety may have tripped also. Try these things first and let me know. Good Luck, Shastalaker7

Draft inducer starts Hot surface ingination glows, gas does not come out of gas valve, repaeats 3 times furnace shuts off

The problem is you're Gas valve. If you have a volt meter, set it above 24 volts ac.When the Hot surface ignition glows, have you're meter on your gas valve terminals. Hold them there through the complete cycle, and you should have 24volts which you will, showing with power going to it, it will not open, the coil is burned out. Do not try and repair it! This has to be replaced. When the Gas valve is ready to open, you will hear a click. No gas, bad coil. This will solve you're problem, I have replaced so many of the MGV's. Good Luck, and please let me know, Thanks Shastalaker7
