You have an auto defrost problem. Need to check element for resistence. if good, check the thermal fuse for continuety. Most of the time i replace both the thermal fuse and the little clixon that is attached to the evaporator coil. Defrost timer is quite robust and very seldom do i need to replace that. You need to firstly defrost freezer overnight to allow cover removal. All components should be visible.

You will need to check the=> 67003410 Damper Control If it is not working properly or blocked by ice from the freezer no mater what setting you choose it is going to get too cold or if closed too hot. Here is a link to how to test the auto damper=> HERE Not sure what the banging is caused by unless the fans are hitting their housings or ice formed around or near the fan blades, Can you tell me where the banging is coming from like freezer or below the refrigerator in the compressor area? HOOVER CLASS A FROSTFREE FREEZE HNMF 2805A L-80 FREEZER IS WORKING BUT FRIDGE INSIDE IS COVERED WITH SHEET OF ICE AND BLOCK OF ICE AT BACK FOOD AND LIQUIDS ARE FREEZING HAVE ALREADY TRIED TURNING DOWN...

I had same problem. Needed a new thermostat. Lasted about 18 months, then needed to replace fridge. Ice build up is between the inside and outside layers of the fridge as well. May just be more economical to replace. Cheers

Freezer getting cold but not freezing food

Hi,

..I'm not certain here but there are a couple of things we can look at and diagnose. First, be sure that your doors close tightly. If the gaskets leak, this will allow humidity in...that's where ice comes from. If you 'windowshop', this will also cause icing. Now...let's start with a full defrost. This can take about two days with the unit open and off. Once accomplished, the next thing to do is look at the unit itself. First, underneath, is the condenser coil clean? If not, do that. Now, from the back, remove the felt panel covering the lower portion. The big thing is the compressor. If the unit has been off for more than 20 minutes, clean the big pipe off. Now, start the unit. It should develop frost on the pipe which should either freeze up or dry out after 5 minutes or so. Caution: there is a fan in there! If still frosty, you're low on gas and the unit probably has a small leak. The icemaker can be looked at by removing it. It contains a float. If the float is damaged or jammed, it will not shut off...and will overfill the icemaker. Good luck.

The freezer motor starts whenever I close the freezer door. It is loud and sounds like something is hitting a fan.

The evaporator fan motor inside your fridge is constantly trying to keep the temperature you have set it to. when the fan is on it circulates the cold air from your freezer in to your fridge. if you hear a banging noise it is cause by the fan hitting a build up of ice. this can be caused by a clogged drain pan or tube, not allowing water build up to be drained, or you could also have a defrost heater issue in which case you would have a large build up of ice near your fan. you can access the fan motor by removing the two panels at the back of the freezer, once removed you will be able to see whether or not there is a ice build up.hope this helps you
Thanks.

Freezer stopped working

Pour about 1/2 cup of water into ice maker . If it dumps the cubes , then replace the water valve . If it doesn't , replace the ice maker . Also make sure the refrig coils are clean and free of dust , lint , pet hair , etc....
