Assuming you have Windows as your operating system, you can partition the disc within the windows. However, you mustn't do that to your Windows drive, only to secondary drive. This means:

If you have C:/ and D:/ in your computer, you should take a look which drive contains the windows files, usually it's drive C:/. Then you can partition drive D:.

However, if you only have drive C:/, you will have to format the whole computer, and then set the partitions.

Assuming you have two drives and you wish to partition the secondary drive, you can right click on your drive and click on Manage. It's quite easy to continue from there. Just make sure this is not the only drive you have...

My Lenovo lap 892229U 3000 c200 crashed and I do not have the installation cd. I loaded on the XP operating system but I am have problems loading on the drivers like the sound, wireless etc.

you probably have a secure partition. it will contain your recovery disks if you have not changed your partitions or changed disks. you may either have to create the disks from this partition or run a recovery program from this partition (drive)(folder).

Have to make partition as C and D drive

Since you have used the recovery disc to restore the system, it will automatically create partitions on the system, in your case, just one major partition which is Drive C (C:). If you want to add partitions on your system, you can use partition editor software such as Norton Partition Magic 8.0 and Acronis Partition Manager. These software gets a portion of the main Partition (Unused / Free space) and creates a new one. You can create multiple partitions depending on the size of the Hard Drive on the system. These Software are not Free, if you want to use a free software for editing the parition, you can use Gparted (Found in : ). Though Gparted is free, it is harder to use compared to the first 2 software mentioned. If you want to use a user friendly sofware, I suggest that you use Acronis Partition Manager or Norton Partition Magic 8.0.
