I have a Nikon D60 that won't flash. The flash does 'pop up', but no flash occurs, even on automatic. Unfortunately, I have recently relocated to Germany and finding repair is difficult. It was recommended that I do a 'hard reset' but I am unable to find how to do that. Suggestions are appreciated

My D60 is doing the same thing ... it clicks as to release the flash when it's already up. I took the cover off the flash and found a bushing/wire way that has slid back into the camer that is susposed to close a switch that tells the camera that the flash is in the open position. some how I need to get that bushing to move back out to where it works as a bearing for the flash body and the pin on this part to rome the little switch.. looks like a manufacture problem to me because there so many that are having the same problem

SOURCE: Nikon D60 highlight

When you have the flashing highlight areas, press the down arrow on the command dial and it will scroll through various playback screen options until you get to the screen you prefer to view.

SOURCE: Flash on Nikon D60 does not work

Hello. When i first bought a D60, it was working perfectly outdoors at day and would work without a hitch with external flash. However, the internal flash would never get released. No menu option would be of any use, only symptoms were flashing 'flash' and 'question mark' symbols in the finder. NIKON service fixed it - There was nothing wrong with the camera electronics. The little flash release mechanism somehow acted up and NIKON staff fixed it in +- 5 minutes. I do hope you have yours in full working condition by now.

SOURCE: My Nikon D60 flash has

My D60 flash problem was that the flash would pop up, but would not flash. The release lever would keep "clicking"...it did no know that the flash was up. Since I was told that the min cost of sending it to Nikon for repair was $250, I downloaded a repair/service manual for the D60 from http://www.tradebit.com/filedetail.php/9029672-nikon-d60-service-repair-manual ($8.99)
This manual gives a step by step assembly and disassembly of the camera.

I actually lucked up and fixed my problem...

Problem Descripton/Solution (short version):
There was a tiny plastic collar at the flash hinge that got pushed back into the camera. This collar served to close a couple of contacts. I stuck a home made wire/double hook tool into the hinge clearance hole and pulled the collar out and snapped it back into place.

Problem Description/Solution (LONG version)

WARNINGS (based on experience)
1. Yes, the flash will still shock the **** out of you..even with the battery out. You will smell burnt hair/flesh.
2. Be careful of the tiny contact leaf springs. They are hard to bend back into the correct position.
3. The #00 screws are easy to strip out. Apply firm pressure, turn slowly, and make sure screw driver is aligned properly.
4. Proceed at own risk (to camera). Make sure your warranty really has run out. There are many ways to make things worse. You can back out now and buy an external flash.

All I had to take apart however was the top cover of the flash (two tiny screws on underside of the flash #00 philips head). I found that there are two tiny copper or gold "leaf spring" contacts that have to close to send a signal that the flash is up. These are located at the hinge where the flash wiring runs into a clearance hole into the camera (hole is a center of rotation of the flash). There is a small plasitc collar that fits into this clearance hole from inside the flash/camera base and through the flash housing at the pivot point and snaps into place via 2 plastic hooks or tabs (download/see repair manual). This collar serves to secure the flash housing to the base but also has a tiny pin sticking out that catches one of the contact leaf springs and closes the circuit. The problem is that this collar got knocked out of place and pushed back into the camera. I made a home made wire/double hook tool out of 22 gauge wire (see attached picture) and worked it into the clearance hole by pinching the hooks together and working it in. Go in above the flash wires (top of hole) since the wire path goes downward into the camera. With some work and luck I was able to hook the edge of the collar and pull it back out and snap it back in place.

I then put the flash cover back on and everything still seems to work.

My nikon D60 and the pop up flash dosent work

the flash pivot on the release side of the flash has a small cylinder that operates the flash up switch. If that cylinder is broken off or the pivot is pushed in so the switch doesn't close, then what you describe happens

pop up the flash and remove the two screws underneath, and you can pry off the cover - gently - to check the switch

I have a nikon d60 and cannot get the pop up flash to work, any help would be appreciated.

there is a button just to the left of the flash on the camera that should pop up the flash or if you are in auto mode it shoud pop up by itself.. if these do not work then your flash is stuck and you could just pull up in it and it should open but I dont recommend that just in case you break it.. but I have done that several times

Is the Sigma ES 430 ST compatible with my Nikon D60 or D7000?

Do you mean the EF 430? If so, then yes, it is compatible with the D60 and D7000, at least as far as the flash trigger voltage is concerned. You may not get all the capabilities of more recent Nikon flashes, but it will work.

Hello i have nikon d60 and the flash do not pup out

In what mode(s)? In the point&shoot modes the camera decides whether to pop up the flash. In PSAM modes you decide.

Auto flash wont work

did it pop up automatically or did you pop it manually? if it popped up by itself then the flash unfortunately is probably dead, since on automatic, it won't pop unless it's going to fire. If you popped it manually then - the camera doesn't think that the flash is necessary for the conditions that you're shooting in.

Have a nikon d60 and the flash will not go off even when in a dark situation. Pops up but no flash?

if it pops up then the sensor is working and the mechanical parts are working,

Next is manual force flash test, if is manually flashes, the bulb is good else replace the bulb.

What is night mode on a Nikon d60. How do I turn it on and off?

Night mode?

Do you mean Night Portrait mode? Select it by turning the mode dial to the appropriate icon, deselect it by turning the mode dial to some other mode.

Do you mean flash? It pops up automatically in the point&shoot modes (except for Sports, Landscape, and NoFlash). You have to pop it up in PSAM modes.
