This is a case of os corruption somehow..!!..may b a virus/trojan or hardware or software is responsible..
all u need is the os boot cd anyway..

probably now u got two way out:
gotosome cyber n download win xp pro sp2, using any bit-torrent client(likeutorrent) from torrent site (eg. so on)..make a boot diskn try..
1) copy the file in windows repair mode or from any identical os n put it in place as stated above..
OR 2) reinstall os..
(totake data backups u gotta connect the hdd to another pc/laptop, for suchcases a hdd-case is available in the local spare market, it'll makebehave ur hdd to act as an external removable drive)..

this canalso b a symptom of faulty/defective of RAM..pen clean/remove carbon& or oxide formed on the teeth with an eraser n resit it..[it'll bmore prominent, that if itz cause by ram or not,..if during normaloperation, a Blue Screen appears/Memory Dump]
though, sometimes itz also caused by the m/b..

if once u can login, do the following:
hv a licensed and UPDATED antivirus installed (i prefer avg/kaspersky, , without updation a full version antivirus is useless)..
download, install n run microsoft kb890830..
download n run Startup Control Panel..'removealltheunnecessary startup items from here..(if u can't find what toremove, post me/us in ur comment with all the items listed in each nevery tabs herein)..
remove all unnecessary software from add/remove programs..
download, install n run 'Advanced System Care Pro'..
disable thefollowing: a) 'Automatically Restart' right click onmy computer->properties->advanced->startup nrecovery->(uncheck on the) Automatically Restart; b)'ErrorReporting 'right click onmy computer->properties->advanced->errorreporting->disable error reporting->(uncheck on the) 'but notify mewhen critical error occur'..
Increase the size of Virtual Memory, Initial: 1440; Maximum: 2880

always better to seek professional advice of ur system admin/vendor....

Hello and thank you for using Fixya's services.

It sounds like your operating system is corrupt, possibly by viruses and/or mal-ware.

You have a couple of options.

Take the hard drive from the laptop, slave it to another computer (desktop) and run a virus scan on it. This will clean all viruses and hopefully allow you to boot up again. This is also a the chance to grab all of your documents, pictures, files, etc. from the hard drive.

If it doesn't boot after doing the above, then you will need to reformat the hard drive. If you have Vista, press F11 at start-up and do a factory restore. (this will erase everything)

For Windows XP, you will need an XP disk for re-installation or the restore disks provided by the manufacturer of the computer.

If you do not have the restore disks, you can order them for under $15.00 from the manufacturer.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Cry a tad!
Either there is something fubar with the laptop hardware causing it to reboot, or perhaps your operating system is corrupt. You might want to try doing a repair operation with your setup disks. If this works then the problem was definitely with the OS. If the laptop continues to have a mind of its own, then there is something wrong with the memory, optical drive, hard drive, main board, cmos, etc.

My Targa Traveller 1534 laptop froze while playing dvd movie. It failed to shut down until I continuously pressed the power up button. Since then each time I try to power it up it goes straight into sleep...

First try this, Remove ALL Media, DVDs, CDs, USBs, unplug from AC, remove battery, leave battery out, Reboot normally. If that fails boot into safe-made with networking, open Control Panel, Power, select High Performance, Start Menu, Restart. You didn't give your OS, so that's a general procedure.

The problem is that when u start the laptop it will come on but after some time it goes and yet the indicator light will still be on and nothing will respond again. its hp nc6000 laptop

Hi Sir_chiks,

I see that you are epxeriencing a no boot no video issue on your Laptop.

Have you tried power cycling the Laptop, turn the Laptop OFF then unhook the AC ADapeter remove the battery then press and hold down the power button for about 15 seconds this should drian way all the reamaining power from the systemboard. once the power cycling is done. reconenct the Adapter and the battery on the Laptop and try turning it ON again see if the machien will boot back into windows.

If still the issue is the same, try going into the BIOS of your Laptop see if it will boot to the BIOS.
If the system boots to BIOS set the BIOS to defaults tehn restart the machine, but if it does not boot inot the BIOS then there is something wrong porbably with the motherboard.

I hope that this few detail can help.

Have a nice day,

Recalibrate battery then it reboots and message reads f1 to continue and goes through the same cycle never boots up

Remove the battery, run the system on AC alone and see if anything changes. You can also try booting to the BIOS and resetting default settings.
If system boots normal with battery removed, then replace the battery.

Opened my lap top HP dv9000 black screen sounded like it was running, I shut down then tried to reboot, starts to reboot then cuts off then tries to reboot and continues this cycle

Try starting the laptop in safe mode.
This is done by pressing F8 while the computer is starting. You will be presented with an option screen and should in the first instance choose safe mode. If the laptop boots you can then check the hardware for faults. If you are not getting past the initial bios boot screen it would be worthwhile downloading the latest bios firmware from the HP web site and installing this.
