If the charge light doesnt turn on on the computer ..then you may have a broken wire from the charger .. that happens frequently right at where the wire enters the plug that plugs into the computer .. someone thats knowlegable about polarity and soldering can replace the tip .. or you could get a new charger ... if the charge light does lignt steady on the computer then thats not the problem .. often it is ..

No audio

You need to download the audio driver from the Compaq/HP WEB support/download page. Make sure you select your model laptop and the XP or Vista Windows version of the drivers you require.

Bios Password is trapped

To recover your bios password you can read here in the HP Omnibook 500 service manual (page 107) where it states you'll need to contact HP and provide proof of ownership and they'll walk you through the process of resetting your password:

My omnibook 500 bios password is loss how is open

here are the instructions

-Remove the hard drive.
-Remove the keyboard.
-Disconnect the reserve battery cable from the system board connector.
-Pry the reserve battery free from the system board. The reserve battery is attached to the system board with a piece of adhesive tape.
-Remove any remnants of the adhesive tape from the EMI shield.

Step 2
Make sure all power is off/disconnected and batteries removed before attempting anything like changing parts
in HP > Compaq nx6310 is in a easy to get-to location, but changing it is a pain. Remove your main battery, you'll see a small square of silver plastic in the middle of the compartment. The CMOS battery is underneath of this square.
The battery's connector is on the mainboard, just below the area of the "ALT" key. Unfortunatly, you have to dissasemble the laptop to change it.
