Question about Polycom SoundStation2 with Two Extended Mics (220016200MIC)

1 Answer

We have a dial tone but there is a fuzzy sound in the background and when you try to make a call it won't. We have tried several different phone points to ensure it wasn't the point that was faulty. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I have reviewed your problem and have the fallowing for you to aces.
First, try disconnecting the phone line coming into the phone from the wall outlet.
Press the talk button and listen to the background noise over the receiver. If you hear static, fuzzy or a humming, your power supply or cube is allowing A/C to bleed thru the circuity and the cube should be changed.
But, you have also complained that the phone will not dial out.
If this is the case, the phone should be replaced and the cost to have this phone repaired would not be in your best interest.
I hope this information has been of some help.
Please rate kindly...

How do I get a dial tone.can answer the phone.just cannot dial out

I am NOT familiar with YOUR make and model of phone, BUT.... I've had several cordless phone systems over many years, and have had the same problem that you describe. First, here is some background info for you:

The telephone company systems USUALLY have two different dialing systems:
  1. The "old" ROTARY DIALS worked by MECHANICALLY sending out different numbers of electrical pulses which the MECHANICAL "receivers" at the phone company "Central Office" buildings would read and thus connect you to the dialed number.
  2. Some years ago, a "new" dialing system was initiated. That system was called Dual-Tone-Multi-Frequency [or for short, DTMF].
DTMF uses BUTTON KEYS which put out a different electronically generated TONE [related to] for each different NUMBER key pushed, and THAT series of tones told/tells the phone company Central Office receiver computer the number to which you wanted to be connected.

Around the world over the years, most phone companies have, and still use one of these two dialing systems, AND...

Most cordless phone manufacturers designed their phones to work WITH EITHER system, BUT....

The customer IS REQUIRED to "SELECT" which system his phone company uses, while the customer is "SETTING UP" his/her new cordless phone.

THAT process IS INCLUDED in ALL cordless phone set-up instruction packages I've ever seen!!!!!!

Either you need to carefully read and study YOUR installation-set-up instructions and then PROPERLY set your phone's dialing system [to PULSE or DTMF], OR GET SOMEONE who KNOWS WHAT he, or she is doing to do it for you.

I, and I think no one else is able to guide you via back and forth messaging on this site. At least I know I can't because I'm not acquainted with your cordless phone, AND I don't have an instruction/set-up manual to consult!!!!!

Track down your manual, OR search for a replacement manual; the dialer system selection process is NOT DIFFICULT IF you have the manual!!!!!!!

Poor sound quality

IP phones compress analog data to avoid excess bandwidth. When calls are placed long distances this becomes really noticeable.

I was cleaning my phone and I pressed on something and now there is music playing that i can not stop,I don't know how to stop the music,my phone is panasonic KX-T7730

Here are two methods to turn off background music, one of these should work depending on which Panasonic phone system your phone is connected to.

1) With phone idle, press the 1 key on the dial pad (turns off background music when it is on and turns on background music when it is off).

2) With phone idle, press intercom button then dial *751 on the dial pad followed by 0 on the dial pad to turn off background music(confirmation tone will be heard) and end by lifting handset and replacing in cradle. To turn background music on, press intercom button then dial *751 on the dial pad followed by 1 or 2 on the dial pad to select the background music source(confirmation tone will be heard) and end by lifting handset and replacing in cradle.

You have almost left no stone unturned. It is either a bad base station or a bad cord between the base and the jack. Try a new cord.

No dial tone

Try connecting a regular phone to that jack and see if the phone works. If not, try a different cable. If the phone doesn't work, then the jack is either dead or miss wired.
