The printer works, but I can't get the printer to communicate with the network. I had the same printer before and am trying to use the same cable. Technical support from hp says I should put the cab

My Hp office-jet Pro X576 printer is connected via a network and if l send a print job it displays printer error switch off machine and the printer restarts .if l use usd it works fine


I would ensure that you have the current firmware installed on the printer and make sure that you are sending the job via network with a correct driver. If you manually set the IP address on your computer and the printer you should be able to connect direct using a crossover cable, I do that in the shop all the time.

Whats 49.4c02 error?


Per HP:
49.xxxx errors are "communication errors" and can be caused by many things:Corrupted driver, corrupted firmware, corrupted print job, bad nic card (your printer has a built in network port), bad memory DIMM, bad formatter board etc etc.
Unplug the network cable, power off and then back on..........print a configuration page...........check that the printer sees the network port (if you see the IP address on the EIO page it sees it)...........if it doesn't see it you may have a bad formatter board (the network port is built in it).
If the printer works just fine while unplugged from the network, start replacing the network cable, otherwise you need to look into your network.

You can clear this by turning your copier off and then on. Try turning it back on with the network cable unplugged, run your machine, then plug the network cable back in. If the error code comes back, its: 1) bad network cable 2) ungrounded electrical plug for copier or router 3) noise on network line 4) copier needs firmware update 5) replace the print board

Printer will not communicate with the computer


1. Walk over to the printer and print a test page directly. The procedure for printing a test page will vary from model to model, so you may need to consult the user guide that came with your printer. For most network printers, you can print a test page by navigating the "Information" menu on the control panel and choosing "Print Configuration" from the menu. For many desktop printers, you can print a test page by holding the power button until the page begins to print. If you can print a test page from the printer, but not from the computer, you know there is a communication problem between the printer and the PC.


2. Remove the printer cable from the back of your printer and the back of your computer. After the cable has been removed, carefully put the cable back into place, making sure that the printer cable is tight. If your printer uses a parallel cable, be sure that it is fully seated on the back of the printer and on the computer. If you are using a USB cable for your printer, be sure that the tab is fully seated in the computer, and that the square end of the cable is firmly connected to the printer.


3. Power down the printer, the restart your computer. Click on the "Start" button and choose "Control Panel" from the menu. Double-click the "Printers and Faxes" icon, locate your printer, right-click on it and choose "Properties" from the menu. Click on the "Print Test Page" button to send a test page to your printer.


4. Look at the network card on your network printer to see if there is good communication between the printer and the network. You should see a flashing green light on the network card. If there is no light--or if the light is amber or red--the communication is not happening. To test the network communication, remove the network cable from both the network cable and the network port on the wall, then reseat the cable and check the communication again. If the problem remains, you will need to remove and replace the printer's network card.

Keep getting the error message "Printer not responding".


How are you connecting the printer to the computer? (USB, parallel, ethernet) Make sure there are no error messages/lights blinking and that the unit is on.

If you are using an USB cable, try a new cable. Also try a direct connection if you have a USB hub or print server in use. Make sure the USB ports are active (not disabled for power saving or security). Test the port with a known working device.

If you are using the parallel cable, make sure it is properly secured. Also try a new cable. Again try a direct connection instead of a print server.

If you are using an ethernet connection, again try a new cable. Check if your firewall is blocking communication with the printer. (Test this by temporarily turning off the firewall. If it starts working, make the printer a trusted part of the network. With some firewalls, you may need to unblock communication for both incoming and outgoing communication with the printer.)

Printer unable to communicate with computer.


Are you using the wireless network printer function or is the printer connected by a USB cable? If you are using the wireless network, launch the printer's Wireless Setup Utility and run through it. (Check for problems with IP, signal strength etc.)

For USB, try resetting the printer (unplug it from the wall for 10 seconds). Check that the computer is looking for the printer on the correct port. Click Start > Settings > Control Panel. Double click on the Printers folder and right click on your Lexmark printer. Choose Properties then click on the Ports tab. Check that one of the USB port options is checked. (If you have a newer OS, Start > Devices and Printers and then right click on the printer.) Also try a new USB cable and a different USB port. If you have a print server or USB hub, try a direct connection.

Printer communication error


check the network cable... disconnect the network cable and ping the copier... if you can get the copier IP address to respond... then you have an IP conflict... if you plug the network cable back in... turn the copier off and on and still cann't print from any pc... then reset the copier... if you still cannt print from any pc then you need to try changing the IP address... and try again... still doesn't work... change the network cable and try again... still doesn't work... plug a laptop into the network cable and ping the laptop... if the laptop works... the print card is bad...

1. Check the cables
2. Check wheather the printer is detected?
if detected
3.Uninstall and Install the printer driver
Still facing the issuse, then you need to double check the cable
If the cable is working fine then try to do the system recovery

Dell Color Printer 725 - Communication Not Available


I have seen that in most of the cases (with lexmark and dell printers) it is fixed by reinstalling the printer software. Be sure that you completely remove the older drivers using the cd or using add/remove programs.
