Optoma dv10 internal speakers work; audio output does not work! optical, RCA, stereo minijack... none work. internal speakers work however. Used to use optical output. How can I fix? thanks!
projdoc-- appreciate your reply! unfortunately, the projector already setup properly to provide the optical digital audio output. Settings never changed, just took it to a buddy's house for a thanksgiving party and then brought it home. No one else touched it or messed with it. Got it back home, hooked the optical cable back up (how it was just before the party, when everything worked great), and optical output no longer works. Red light coming through the cable, but apparently no audio content in the light stream. :(

I assume by using your phone (cable rca to mini jack) the sounbar functions normal. Next time give more info like tv and soundbar make and model no and what connections are available on both components and if its input or output connections.
On the tv make sure the rca cable (tv to soundbar) is plug into the stereo output of the tv and not in a av input. Some tv's have a mini jack out and not rca. Some have a earphone socket which could also be used.
Some tv's only have a digital or optical output port. Iin basic sound work and can be connected with the following combinations .
Minijack to minijack
Minijack to rca
rca to rca
digital to digital
optical to optical
Input 1 is an INPUT so you can't connect external speakers there and get sound from the television, which is what you are attempting.
Your two choices are the 3.5mm minijack hole that says AUDIO OUT terminal, which is under the Ethernet Terminal and the DIGITAL AUDIO OUTPUT terminal, which is under Input 7. If your external speaker system does not have a 3.5 mm minijack input to accept the 3.5 mm minijack cable then this isn't going to work. There are cables where one end is a 3.5 mm minijack and the other end is an RCA so you can try that and it MIGHT work. Other than that the Sharp televisions are known for not carrying sound over the fiber optic cables consistently so even if you bought a fiber optic cable and connected it between the digital audio output and a speaker system or sound bar there is no 100% guarantee it'll work. It is worth a try anyways.
as a rule...in order to get analog audio out of a receiver, it must have an analog input. you could use a digital to analog converter between the tv and stereo or come out of both of your source devices (ps3, cable) with analog to the receiver. good luck
here is the details of what to plug in your sound card
line output (usually with a 1/8" stereo minijack). You can feed this into a cassette deck or an amplifier (ideally connected to a good pair of near-field monitor speakers) for playback and mixing purposes. If you have a really cheap soundcard, it won't even have this and you'll have to get your output from the... headphone jack (with a 1/8" stereo minijack). You can use this for monitoring while recording, but don't use headphones for mixing. line input (usually with a 1/8" stereo minijack). This is the only thing you should plug any of your musical recording stuff into.
try to check your speaker if what type of cable your speaker have...your LCD tv i think its a RCA connector, so you have to insert the RCA connector to the output audio label,,,then the cable which is also an RCA output must be connected to a RCA female connector ....again the output the your female connector will depend to what your speaker output have....it its minijack or RCA then the output must be female RCA of mini jack also.
you can connect the BA7500G speakers to a regular digital coaxial output by using a cable that has an RCA plug on one end and a stereo minijack on the other. However, the pole of the RCA must connect to the tip of the stereo minijack and the shield of the RCA must connect to the middle ring on the stereo minijack. Also set your soundcard to output at 16bit and 48khz.
Get an outside audio source such as a home theatre or any stereo and go from the red and wht audio output to the input on the stereo. You could also use computer speakers just make sure you get a minijack to rca cable like the ones used for hooking up ipods to stereos.Computer speakers are very inexpensive and sound better then TV speakers.I hope this helps
