Overvealous employee overloaded shredder and stripped the fibreglass drive wheel. Where can I get a replacement part? Drive wheel is approx 1 1/2 " X 3/8 " and has a metal star gear attached approx 1/2 " X 1/2 "

I have the same problem and called staples. they were of no help and the moron said they don't sell parts because of the litigious society we are in! I guess they would rather fill landfills than take care of customers. I explained I would be buying no more products from them.

Gee, I just found that I had the same problem today! Pulled the shredder apart and found the gear stripped. Any idea where one can get replacement parts?

I have the same problem. Someone put too much paper in at once and sripped a gear down o an apple core.

I have the same problem as others with the Staples Model SPL-826X shredder. One nylon(?) gear is stripped. I'd like to find a replacement.

I need the gear that has been stripped on my Staples SPL-826X shredder. I don't need a whole new shredder. Where can I get this gear?

I have the same problem with the Staples Model SPL-826X shredder. One nylon drive gear is stripped. It would be an easy (and cheap) fix if I could find a replacement part.

so, how do you tell if the gears are stripped? have taken it all apart and removed paper, everything looks intact without broken parts. BUT it whines when you stick a piece of paper thru and the gears are obviously not turning. staples is of no help.

  • shipguy Jan 03, 2009

Same problem for me. It looks like we're up a creek.

    I had the same problem:

You have to take the cover off the motor area. The broken gear is connected to and behind the larger gear. Then follow the directions (lower down on this page) under Solution #1

has anyone been able to find parts for this item?

  • Anonymous Mar 23, 2014

There was no instructions for installing the 4 wheels which came with the shredder. It appears there is a small metal ring of sorts that needs to be compressed before the shaft of the wheel will fit into the proper place.

I found a way to do a fix that should last for awhile. Put the large gear in a vise leaving room to partially knock the small broken gear through. I used a bolt the same size as the hole in the plastic, and tapped it in about 1/4 inch. This pushes some of the small gear through, exposing more of the usable part of it. I then cut (hacksawed) off about 3/8 inch of the broken part, put it back together and it works!..................Good luck, Sparky

My Mailmate TXC12M7A Shredder runs continuously when I turn the power on for at least 5 minutes. I’d like to find out how to stop this. Help

This appears to be a shredder rather than a Car and Trucks issue. I have moved you to the correct category and edited your question for clarity.

Remove the head and vacuum all the dust and paper bits, top and bottom. There is a sensor in there that is looking for a sheet of paper. When you turn it on, it thinks it has found it. While you are at it, oil the blades.

Staples shredder Model: SPL-826X IT SUDDENLY STOPPED GOING FORWARD. ONLY RUNS ON REVERSE. 3/31/11

Your problem is same as mine. I took the shredder apart and notice that the first dented wheel moved by the motor is stripped. I called the product support number and they said the manufacturer do not sale parts for this model. The shredder need to be send to them. At the end, it will probably cost more than buying a new one.
I am trying to find the part on the internet.
