Into the menu go to where you first set the alarms ....after that click and enable the alarm ....this will get rid of the x ..but it will set the alarm ...to get rid of the alarm delete the setting for it ...the X means that the alarm is muted or disabled..

Can i replace my standard mufflers with long reverse cone megaphones if yes what fine tuning is involved

Wow, I have heard the term 'reverse cone megaphones' since the late 1960s!

They create a little back pressure to force some of the unburnt fuel back into the combustion chamber. They also sound great. no fine tuning involved as I am aware.

Home made electric megaphone

Making a regular home made megaphone using poster board or cardstock is easy and anyone can do it, but you can easily take it up a notch and make an electric megaphone.

All you need is a poster board / cardboard, scissors, tape, a battery-powered speaker and a microphone with a chord.

Start by making a regular megaphone. Roll the cardboard into a cone and take the sides together. You want to make the cone as big as possible, the overlap should be as small as possible. Trim the edges of your cone so that they are all smooth and round.

To make your megaphone an electric megaphone connect a small speaker to the small end where you would normally put your mouth. The best speakers to use are bettery powered ones like the kind you would use to connect to your ipod. Using a very strong tape to connect the speaker to the megaphone making sure that the on / off switch is on the outside of the cone and accessible.

Plug the microphone into the speakers and attach it to the bottom of the speaker. When you switch the speaker on and talk into the microphone you voice will be amplified by the cone and your megaphone is ready to go!

You only have to connect the microphone to the bottom of the speaker if you want to have a one-handed set up.

Who invented the Megaphone?

Samuel Morland and Athanasius Kircher lay claim to the device. Morland, in a work published in 1655, wrote about his experimentation with different horns and his most successful variant. This loudest horn was made of over 20 feet of copper and could supposedly project vocalizations as far as a mile and a half. [2]

Twenty years earlier, Kircher described a device that could be used for both broadcasting on one end and "overhearing" on the other. His coiled horn would be wedged into the side of a building, connecting a speaker or listener inside with the surrounding environment.

Morland favored a straight, tube-shaped speaking device, where an initial sound would reverberate in waves through the instrument and gradually become louder. Kircher's horn, on the other hand, utilized a "cochleate" design, where the horn was twisted and coiled, unlike Morland's design.

A later, papier-mache trumpet of special design was the Sengerphone.[3]

The term 'megaphone' was first associated with Thomas Edison's instrument 200 years later. In 1878, Edison developed a device similar to the speaking trumpet in hopes of benefiting the deaf and hard of hearing. His variation included three separate funnels lined up in a row. The two outer funnels, which were six feet and eight inches long, were made of paper and connected to a tube inserted in each ear. The middle funnel was similar to Morland's speaking trumpet, but had a larger slot to insert a user's mouth. [4]

Black rectangular is covering the lower part of the screen. think I may have turned on a block and can not figure out how to turn it off.

It sounds like you turned on the captions for the hearing impaired, go to menu and scroll down to captions, press the right arrow 1,2,3,off make sure cursor is over off and press enter that should get rid of the black box, some remotes have the caption button separate from the menu.
