Hello, I am looking for the inner baseplate ring

Hello, I am looking for the inner ring for the baseplate on my old craftsmen router. The Model no. is 315.17550. I know it's old but it still works great. Without this inner ring, I can't use my template guides

Hello. you can get access to all available craftsman parts at searspartsdirect.com. I would start there. If they no longer have that part, I would then recommend that you do a search on Craigslist, as that is a national search.

Finally go to the website, UsedRebuiltParts.local.com
where you might just find what you need. Regards, Joe

Ive put a new roller brush in my dyson dc14 now it makes a awful noise

Hi There,
I work as a tech for VacuumSpot and the problem you are describing is pretty common. It generally happens when you replace the belt or roller as the new one isn't worn so is marginally thicker than the old one. Basically what you need to do is remove the base plate and turn the brush roller by hand to make sure it is seated correctly. It is best to then replace the base plate and run it while its upside down so you can see that the roller is turning freely.
THe sound you are hearing is the clutch engaging because the roller is not able to turn freely because it is pressing against the baseplate. Once the roller and belt are able to turn while the baseplate is on the sound will go away.

Burning smell when switched on

if it is belt driven then your belt needs to be replaced, thats what was wrong with mine, but mine was too old to find a belt for so i just bought a used one at a fleemarket but hopefully thats your problem and if its not then its in the wireing if so i'd be looking for a new one, hope this helps, Jamie

How to change g5 belt

1)First, you turn the square belt lifter on the front of the power nozzle until the red arrows line up (belt off)
2)Remove the power head from the front of the machine. Now turn the belt lifter the other way and line the green arrows up again. This releases the tension on the belt
3)Turn it upside down and release the two clips that hold the metal baseplate on and remove the baseplate.
4)Grab the brushroll and pull it out of the power head. Slide the new belt onto the center of the brushroll. It will hang loose...it doesn't have to stretch around anything yet. MAKE SURE THAT THE BRUSHROLL SPINS FREELY!! If it doesn't, you'll burn all new belts quickly due to the added strain on the belt.

You can get a replacement belt here:

Try to remove all other base plate screws first. If they can be removed gently try to pull open by hand against the lid while rotating the remaining screw. You will need to apply outward pressure betweent the insert and baseplate to remove it while rotating with a driver and using the separating pressure to allow it to unscrew.
The inner housing may have a cap nut on it which has spun loose or the threaded area of the housing has likely cracked if the head has been dropped.

My Oreck has become very hard to push across carpet

IF IT PUSHED EASILY ON THE SAME CARPET BEFORE, THEN THE BRUSHROLL IS NO LONGER CONTACTING THE CARPET IT USED TO. A NEW BRUSHROLL AND/ OR BELT SHOULD GET YOU MOVING AGAIN. TRY THE BELT FIRST, MUCH CHEAPER.

IF YOU HAVE RECENTLY CHANGED THE BELT BY REMOVING THE BASEPLATE (NOT THE RECOMMENDED WAY) CHECK BASEPLATE TO MAKE SURE IT IS FLUSH WITH HOUSING.

hello lilbutmunch1,
The brush is motor/belt driven so you probably either broke the belt or it shifted off the motor or brush shaft. I suggest you unplug it,flip it over and look for screws that hold the baseplate together.. remove those screws and seperate the baseplate to gain access to the brush and motor head. Once open, it should be fairly obvious what the problem is.. a broken belt, a belt that has shifted or the brush won't spin freely due to an obstruction. Hope this helps..

Rick ( bigbutmunch..LOL)

My oreck practicly sticks to the floor.

Make sure that the wheels are not bound up with hair and thread and change the belt.
If you have deep shag or frieze carpeting then this is the best it will get.

No suction

Flip the machine upside down and remove the four screws from the baseplate. Replacement should be fairly self-explanatory from there. If it's a self-propel model, note that the v-belt in the front WILL look loose normally, so it does not usually require replacement.
If you have a self propelled model, the belt you need ends in 035, if it's non self propelled it ends in 033.
Contact me if you need more assistance in changing the belt.
