Question about Radio Shack Wireless Remote Extender Remote Control

1 Answer

Main TV Goes On By Itself

We have come home and the main TV is on. In the middle of the night the main TV will go on and the volume will be at the highest level. When I go down to check on it I notice the wireless receiver is displaying a red dot like a remote is being used in the other room but it is not. Any idea on what this could be?

If this happens often enough, it would be fairly simple to troubleshoot. Remove the batteries from your remote, if the problem persists, the problem is not the remote. Next step would be to unplug power to the transmitter, if the problem persists, the problem is not the transmitter. Next step unplug power to the receiver, this should undoubtedly make the symptoms stop, but try it anyway. If it does, it doesn't necessarily mean that the unit is bad. The remote extenders work on radio frequencies. If you have the paperwork for yours, look to see what frequency range it uses. Many other devices use radio, too. Cordless phones, especially the "frequency jumpers" constantly seek around for unused spectrum space and will jump right in somebody elses' space. If you have neighbors, their equipment can interfere with yours and vice versa. I've had microwave ovens with leaky door gaskets interfere with 2.4ghz signals. The new(relatively) incursion of home wireless broadband is another local spectrum user, I can pick up as many as nine of them at once. And the lot size here is about 1/2 acre. I shudder to think what it's like in an apartment/condo environment.

Magnavox TV turns on off, volume goes up down, goes to menu and changes channel by itself, why?

Fault at its main digital board. Main system control memory IC fault. This is a very small IC; have 8 solder terminals, and can be located very near to the main system control-chroma IC. Check and replace it. Be sure to replace it with the same number printed on it; in all respect. Otherwise, it won't go.

I have a Sharp LE820 TV and all of a sudden the volume level raises by itself, what can I do to solve this problem?

1st thing to do is remove the batteries from the remote and see if it still changes by itself, if it does then I'd look at main board issues

Loud popping and decrease in volume

I'm guessing power supply problems fluctuating, or main control board.
