    Hawk...

Thanks for your response. I will try your solution, then let you know the outcome. I will probably have to wait until I can get some new dvd's that you have recommended. It might take a day or so along with all of the other stuff I ahve to do!

    Thansk again,

What it sounds like you may have a player but only a burner for cd's not dvd's. You would still be able to play them just not write or record. So the first thing you need to do is check your player, if it should burn dvd's you may have to run a fix/repair program for the player or reinstall the drivers for the player. Try these items and go from there. Good Luck!

If it is reading CD's & DVD's and writing to CD's it seems that your device is OK along with the drivers for it. Try using a different burning engine if you can (it may be a software issue) and I would definitely look into a different media (DVD R/W disks). Make sure that your DVD burner supports both formats of DVD's (dual format) + & -- disks and make sure you have the appropriate ones that are compatible. Try a different disk manufacturer, Memorex seems to be the worst out there. Many problems with DVD burning is usually the Media being substandard. Take a look in your device manager (right click on MY COMPUTER, go to PROPERTIES, and then DEVICE MANAGER. Look for any yellow exclamation or question marks. If present, click on it and look at the drivers for the drive. They possibly need to be updated or rolled back. Likewise, sometimes you can right click on the device (DVD/CD drive) in the device manager and uninstall it. When you reboot, Windows will detect the "new" hardware and install the proper drivers from the System folder (if they are not corrupt) and everything should be fine. Installing and uninstalling software can cause problems with devices as well. I hope this helps and good luck!

Acer aspire 3610 dvd drive does not work

Check it is "seen" in the bios first, a failed device will often disappear from the bios
Then, in My Computer, see if you can see the DVD Icon
Now If you can see it, go to Control panel, device manager and see if there is a yellow exclaimation mark next to the device, indicating a problem. If there is, the device has possibly failed, but you can try to remove the retaining screw that holds it into the laptop remove the DVD and re-insert it. This works most times IF the device still has life left in it

IF you cannot see the DVD in My Computer, repost and I'll talk you through the next stage, which involves resetting the filters in the registry

I'm trying to record a DVD on the DVD/CD-RW combo recorder in my Acer Aspire laptop. When I insert a blank DVD, whether it's a R or a -R, I just keep getting the message to insert a blank DVD. How do I...

Try a different manufacturer/brand of DVD-recordable disks.
If you still have the problem, then your drive is malfunctioning,
and you need to get a qualified technician to disassemble your computer, and replace it.

I can,t found cd/dvd icon in my computer And i can,t play any cd or dvd I have Notebook Acer ( aspire 5635WLMI )

This may be as simple as the fact that the BIOS settings could be set to make the drive not appear, or it could be a defective drive. Try to check your BIOS settings to be sure it is set either to "AUTO" or to the drive itself. If it is setup in bios but it does not recognize there, it is probably a defective drive. Also, check device manager in windows and see if the drive shows there. If it shows there but will not play a disc it is more than likely defective....

Downloading music tracks to a blank CD using Sony Sonic Stage software

go into the settings for sonicstage and select your dvd drive. that should be it. but you may have to do other things(i have a sony player too, but i have found sonicstage to be a waste of space and time. it is rather a pain. try looking through the manual and seeing if you have any options for the location of the cs drive. if not, then get a usb cd burner and connect it to the laptop. that should work properly.
